Walsh Jesuit High School lineman Pat McShane commits to Indiana University - Cleveland High School Sports News – The Latest Breaking News, Audio Interviews and Scores from The Plain Dealer
Quote:
Walsh Jesuit senior lineman Pat McShane is relaxed, focused and ready to enjoy his final season of high school football after orally committing to Indiana University.
The 6-5, 288-pound tackle, a 2007 Northeast Inland All-District defensive honorable mention who has a one-star rating from Scout.com, will play guard and center for Indiana coach Bill Lynch.
"Coach Lynch likes my versatility, and I'm going to work hard to improve my footwork and leg drive, get off the ball quicker and make better use of my hands," McShane said.
McShane, who has only played on the offensive line since last season, credits Walsh coach Gerry Rardin and offensive line coach Matt Hereda for his success.
"None of this would have happened without them," McShane said. "They gave me a chance to develop. They had faith in me."
McShane, who is leaning toward majoring in criminal justice, said Purdue, West Virginia and Ohio State also expressed interest, but Indiana was the most persistent suitor.
"Indiana sent me letters every day. They made me feel at home. They really wanted me," he said.

Patrick McShane, Walsh Jesuit: Did outstanding work on offense in a 48-14 victory at Newark Licking Valley. Offensively, he graded out at 91 percent and he had five pancake blocks. While being double-teamed all evening on defense, he assisted on two tackles.
