If Kellman had a bit more size he would blowing up on a national level. Difficult to find aggressive safeties on run support with the coverage skills to match; but Kellman possesses those traits. He lacks ideal height but is tall, rangy and still has a ton of physical developing to do which will complement his fast and physical style of play. Overall, he displays good range on both run and pass support and his ability to find the closest path to the ball may be one of his better strengths as a safety. This kid covers the whole field without wasted steps on his pursuit. Pedal and footwork will need some refinement but he shows the quick burst of the hash and range to get over the top of deep-out routes. Displays adequate ball skills and good leaping ability breaking up the deep pass. Difficult kid to throw the jump ball on or drop the pass over with his physical skills and competitiveness for the football. Reads the quarterback well, shows good route awareness and consistently reacts quickly to the throw. On underneath pass support, he flashes a good break closing on short-to-intermediate routes and looks to lay the big hit if he does not undercut the route. Just as physical on run support. Give this kid 20-pounds and an extra inch of height -- and he is a prototypical strong safety prospect. Aside from his great range, he pursues through the alley trash with excellent pursuit angles. Can slip under, over or through blocks and closes fast with great acceleration when he has a clear view to the ball carrier. While he flashes plays where he looks like a textbook form-tackler wrapping up and driving his hips through ball carriers, he often tackles high and could have major trouble with his leverage filling at the point of attack in college. Will need to add major bulk and power to remain effective and durable in the box. Plays in more of a ball hawk role which he excels at but is a bit raw with his read steps and fundamentals when employed as a true high-point safety. Did not see his man-to-man skills on film but shows the good hips to mirror. Overall, Kellman has great upside for the college level and could be productive at either free or strong. Natural, quick-twitched athlete who should also excel on coverage teams in the kicking game.

The Gophers did not cancel all of the prospects from Florida scheduled to make an official visit to Minnesota over the weekend. Miami-Gulliver Prep defensive back Artice Kellam made his visit and liked what he saw. Kellam, however, did not commit to the Gophers and plans to take at least one more official visit before selecting a college. He will visit Ole Miss in October.
