Glenville lost a Division I regional championship game to Mentor in a 41-40 heartbreaker, but senior Cordale Scott, The Plain Dealer's Football Defensive Player of the Year, won't allow that one loss to tarnish the Tarblooders' successful season.
"We didn't get as far as we wanted to, but we had a great year," said Scott, who has every major college football program hoping for his signature on a national letter of intent. "We beat a Cleveland South team who a lot of people thought would give us a run for the [Senate Athletic League] title.
"And we made the playoffs."


Scott is known for his prowess as a defensive back, but also sparkled as a kickoff returner against Mentor. He gained 250 yards on four returns, which included two dazzling 99-yard returns for touchdowns.
However, the modest Scott didn't dwell on his individual performance.
"My focus was on winning the game and helping my team, in any way, to reach that goal," said Scott. "After all, that's the bottom line.
"Everyone remembers who wins."
True, but Scott's effort in his last high school game will also be hard to forget.

Wadc, I saw your post on buckeyeplanet.com about having a source close to the Illinois coaching staff.

My Glenville source, a poster on the scout site, who has yet to be wrong and has always been accurate with his info says that Scott is really torn between the two schools. The poster didnt say if he was leaning towards one school or another. This is a change from the past when he was almost adamant that OSU was in the lead and that Illinois wouldnt land him.

Scott was highly impressed with Zook and the coaching staff and it'll come down to does he want immediate starting time (Illinois) or does he want to play for the team he grew up watching (OSU) and possibly not even play WR. It'll be an interesting decision because he could start here immeidately while he might have to sit behind OSU's WRs and might even be switched to the D. Thats the decision he has to make.

As several of the Illinois posters have said, including myself at times, Illinois' position with Scott has been a very good one for a while now despite OSU posters and insiders denying so.

I trust my source on the scout site more than the "lengendary" BUCKCRAZY! or Nevadabuck and his "nuggets" when it comes to Glenville players.


EDIT: I do not want it to seem that Wadc's sources are those two posters because they are not. So, im apologizing publicly to Wadc for my misleading post.

FYI, my source is neither of the people you mentioned. Frankly I am a little offended by the insinuation that I would base my post to the BP mass on something that was not substantial.

I have been one of the few OSU people that has contended that Illinois is a real player for Scott the last few weeks (something that ThaKid101 can testify to as we have shared several conversations about Scott). I have received info that is favorable towards Illinois and info that is favorable towards OSU. Being that BP is an OSU site I shared the info that I was allowed to with regard to OSU's chances.

I am not about to get into a debate who about who is closer to the Glenville talent...I merely try and share the info I can when I am given the green light. Sorry if what I said on a site dedicated to the OSU perspective did not gel with what you are hearing from your sources.

I saw your post lopo but I would just like to say wad has said that he thinks Illinois is a player and he wouldn't be surprised to see Scott go to Illinois, FWIW.
