Lendell Buckner, DT, Chicago (Ill.) Leo

Assets: He is big at 6 feet 2, 320 pounds, and holds it really well.
What was most impressive: He is just so powerful, and has boat loads of talent.
Conclusion: Claims only one offer, Colorado, which is really hard to believe since he plays the most sought-after position in college football.

One of my top 5 must gets from the state of Illinois for Illinois including others like Drummond and Moffett.

He lead the state in sacks, regardless of class.

Recruiters zero in on top juniors :: High School Sports ::

Buckner has been offered a scholarship by Colorado and expects offers from Illinois and Minnesota. He also has drawn interest from LSU, Wisconsin and Michigan. He wants to stay in the Big Ten. If he had to make a choice today, he said he would choose Illinois. But he hopes LSU and Michigan will offer.

The 6-2, 320-pound defensive linemen, who has been timed in 4.9 seconds for 40 yards, impressed coaches at the U.S. Army's junior combine in San Antonio this month.

''I didn't think it would be so easy, but it was easier than I thought,'' Buckner said after being tested against some of the top players in the country. ''It wasn't as much of a challenge as I thought. They couldn't block me. I made moves on them, and they couldn't handle me. I came away thinking I can play with anybody, that I can be in the game next year.''

Thats an amazing 40 time for a guy his size.

Im glad he wants to stay in the big 10 and in the end, i think he comes to Illinois. Kinda weird how he wants to stay in the big 10 and yet wants a LSU offer. Ego? lol.

He probably does have an ego, but I think he would consider going to the SEC if he liked it enough.Right now he wants to be in the Big 10.

For those in the "know" any idea if Rivals has a mistake on their site. They list a Lendell Buckner as a top DT from Leo, and then a guy named Lendell Betts, also a DT from Leo, both about the same size. Typo? If not, G*d help anybody that takes on that team next year, with bookend 320lb DTs. YIKES!!

Goat!!

Can we confirm or deny the info in this article that both Hill & Buckner committed last night?

Yes Leon is commited. I talked to Lendell about it and he also said he is going to try his best to get Darius Moffet and Craig Drummond
