'09 MO RB Ronnie Wingo (Official Offer)
Rivals Profile
Scout Profile
St. Louis (MO) University
Ht: 6-foot-2
Wt: 206 lbs
Forty: 4.4 secs
Won the 200m at the AAU Junior Olympics in 21.57 and has run the 100m in 10.78. Very similar to Ohio State's Brandon Saine, IMO.

Ronnie Wingo RB 6'2 190 4.40 St. Louis University Missouri
Wingo really exploded onto the scene as a sophomore, carrying the ball 262 times for 1419 yards (5.4 ypc) and 11 TDs through his team's first ten games. He is a tall, long-striding runner who has the speed to get to the corner and go the distance. Wingo finished fourth in the Missouri Class 4 100-meter dash (10.84 seconds) and seventh in the 200 (22.11) as a freshman. Could wind up converting to WR in high school if he gets any taller. One of the top young prospects in the midlands.

By Crabtree...breakdown of the game between Christian Brothers College High and St. Louis University High...and more importantly Rayon Simmons vs. Ronnie Wingo. Wingo has offers from Missouri and Illinois.

Speaking of stepping up, that's exactly what Wingo did on the game's first play.
The 6-foot-2, 206-pound running back took the first play from scrimmage 80-yards for a touchdown. He bolted through the line on the left hand side on a simple dive play and before the linebackers or safeties could even get near him he was gone untouched for the score.
There's no question that Wingo is one of the fastest players in St. Louis and that touchdown run was a perfect example. When he was a freshman he won the AAU Junior Olympics national championship in the 200 meters, and he's been clocked as fast as 10.78 seconds in the 100 meters.

"I know Ron Zook at Illinois was impressed with him when he was up there, and they offered him on the spot. He's about as big of a can't miss guy that we've had around here in a long time."

By talking to the guy via facebook, he said that his favorite teams growing up were USC and Oklahoma and that if Oklahoma offered, he would play for them. Illinois definitely has a shot but he wants early playing time as a freshman. He says he has worked hard over the summer to get better.
He will be at the Illinois-Michigan tomorrow.

This kid is a stud and is drawing early comparisons to Adrian Peterson (probably why he is a fan of Oklahoma). The Illini staff did well by getting their offer in the mail first...this kid would make a fantastic RB in the Big 10.

I hope Wingo comes to Illinois. I love the Adrian Peterson comparisons.......I could see it in his film from that one game (On Rivals). I can't wait to see more film.

Of the '09 RBs I have seen film of (granted I have not surveyed the national landscape yet), Ronnie is the best, hands down...

Has offers from Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, Tennessee and Minnesota and is getting mail from the likes of Oregon, LSU, Georgia, Ohio State and Texas. Mizzou and Illinois are recruiting him the hardest.

From the UM site...talks about his style and other backs he compares himself to. Hasn't heard anything form the new staff at UM but is definitely interested.

IMO, if Illinois lands Jamie Harper, the chances that Ronnie Wingo still considers Illinois as a strong candidate in his recruitment goes down heavily.

Oh man. Tough question. I would have to go with Wingo solely because I think he has more upside then Harper (which is saying something).
