Winning the WR/TE MVP was Kraig Appleton of East St. Louis High School in Illinois. Appleton, 6-foot-2 1/2 and 190-pounds, was one of the best receivers we have ever seen and the best receiver to date at the National Underclassmen Combine. He is big, strong, fast, and smooth, and just as with Milner, he is destined to become a 20-offer kid down the road. He also had a 28.5-inch vertical, 8’11” broad, 4.57 shuttle, and 4.66 40.

From O&B News...picked up 9/1 offers from Illinois, Iowa State, Nebraska, Arkansas and Mizzou. Also hearing from USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Florida, Texas and the rest of the Big 10. Wants to stay close to home (which bodes well for Missouri and Illinois).

Appleton and Hawthorne are studs. I'm not going to comment on where they going because it might sound too homerish.......forget it.......Illini bound.

TheFresher on the Badger Board (who is from Illinois btw) said he defended them both as on opposing cornerback, and was impressed with Appleton, but thought Hawthorne was overrated.

Hawthorne probably was off that game.....he is arguably just as good as Appleton according to some people. They're both big time though.

I could tell Appleton was a good D1 prospect when i was covering him
Hawthorne seemed like an average high school wideout.. he only seemed fast to me because i'm really slow.. I was very surprised to see Hawthorne on the top 100, let alone on rivals at all
