All I know is that OSU was looking for a specific weight for him to reach for an offer...it is yet to be seen if he will reach it.
Seems as though most of Ginn's boys stay in the B10 though, and Zook is doing some great recruiting.

Dawaun would be an excellent fit at Illinois...right now, the only thing hurting Illinois is depth imo.

For some reason I feel like we're losing steam on a couple of guys that I felt great about at the beginning of the summer. I guess we will just have to hold out hope that Zook can do the same thing he did last year and pull em' in on the official visits. I like our base right now but we need to make sure we hold on to the big fish that we are still involved in. Whitner however could really help us out at Glenville and maybe even help with Scott so he might be worth the scholly even with Ellis in the fold.

No offense intended, but the only thing that probably helps with Scott at this point (based on his comments and the Glenville pipeline) is OSU vanishing from the face of the earth...

i am not very hopeful when it comes to Scott at all, but i do hope can get Fletcher and Whitner. Also, i am not that concerned about our recruiting. We may not get Filer,Goebel and Thomas, but Zook will amaze as always and end up with a great recruiting class.

Yep... That is what Wisconsin and Iowa have done at Glenville the last couple of years... OSU never has room for all the good football players that come through there...
The Zooker sure gave you all a reason for optimism with your class last year... He's always been able to recruit, so history is on your side...

Whitner, Ellis, and Goebal make up the top 3 DT's on the Illini wishlist. They would take all 3 in a heartbeat with thinking even for a second. Whitner is a priority. He's not as high as Ellis and Goebal, but he is a priority. I think he will wind up in O&B just from reading what experts have to say.

Rowell might be the best of the bunch (Goebel is not going to Illinois...either UM or OSU) but he has serious weight issues. He was dominant down in San Antonio earlier this year. He and Whitner are going to anchor one heck of a DL at Glenville this year.

I'm still holding out the little glimmer of hope there is for Goebal. The longer he holds on, the better I feel. I've read that Rowell is quite the player...........I wouldn't mind getting him either. Hopefully he can work off weight but just not enough for OSU to get him. Then he would be a beast in our S&C program.
