Fiedorowicz is a 6-7, 238-pounder with 4.55 speed who bench-presses 315 pounds and cleans 275. He is a wide receiver and middle linebacker.
Last fall, he caught 65 passes for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns and led his team with 73 tackles.
''People are just beginning to find out about this kid,'' Johnsburg coach Todd Winter said. ''Most of them can't believe he is a sophomore. Notre Dame came in last week and was very impressed. People look at him and can't believe how athletic he is.''
Fiedorowicz, who is so unassuming that he rides his bicycle around town, was all-conference in football, basketball and baseball.
But he now understands that football is his priority, that he can play football in college, maybe in the NFL.
''Potentially, he can be a tight end in the NFL,'' Winter said. ''I've been coaching for 12 years and I've had 17 Division I players and two kids who played in the NFL. But I've never had a kid who was so athletic. He'll have as many offers as he wants.''
Northwestern, Oklahoma, Missouri, Purdue, Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana have requested film. Florida and UCLA have expressed interest. But it's early in the recruiting process and the phone is just beginning to ring.
''He will be the most recruited player from McHenry County ever, more than Jace Saylor from McHenry,'' Winter said. ''Everybody will come in this spring to get a look at him. He will be able to pick his school.''

One of the country's top Class of 2010 tight end prospects also happens to be an outstanding basketball prospect. Johnsburg, Ill., star C.J. Fiedorowicz has a scholarship offer on the table from Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis. He also has basketball and football scholarship offers from Indiana. Among the many other football programs showing strong interest are Ohio State, Wisconsin, Illinois, Arizona and UCLA.
The 6-foot-7, 240-pound Fiedorowicz caught 63 passes for 1,072 yards and 15 touchdowns during his sophomore season. He also averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds on the basketball court. Fiedorowicz says he will play football in college.
Fiedorowicz is one of the Class of 2010 prospects to watch in the Big Ten region. Some others include offensive lineman Christian Lombard from Palatine (Ill.) Fremd, offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson from St. Paul (Minn.) Cretin-Derham, linebacker Jamel Turner from Youngstown (Ohio) Ursuline, offensive lineman Matt James from Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier, running back Corey Brown from Springfield (Pa.) Johnsburg (Ill.) High School Junior, C.J. Fiedorowicz, is quickly becoming one of the hottest prospects in the class of 2010. The 6-foot-7 wide receiver has pulled in a total of seven offers, including a recent verbal offer from LSU.
Fiedorowicz a has received offers from Notre Dame, Indiana, Arizona, Iowa, Wisconsin, Duke and a recent verbal offer from LSU. Several other BCS programs, including USC are keeping a close eye on the three-sport athlete.
While a freshman at Johnsburg, Fiedorowicz competed at the varsity level in football, basketball and baseball. Notre Dame was the first school to offer him, but the recent verbal offer from LSU's Tight Ends coach, Josh Henson, has Fiedorowicz thinking about playing in warm weather. "LSU gave me a verbal offer a couple weeks ago," Fiedorowicz said. "My high school coach, Todd Winter, sent video down there for me-I didn't know he did. Coach Winter called me into his office one day and he was on the phone with Coach Henson and that's when they verbally offered me."

C.J. Fiedorowicz experienced quite an eventful week.
The Johnsburg junior, who is considered one of the top football recruits in Illinois, had visits at school from Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis, Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema and an assistant from Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz’s staff.
He also injured his right knee in Wednesday’s 54-42 basketball loss to Prairie Ridge, although further examination by his doctor revealed a muscle bruise and no ligament or cartilage damage.
Fiedorowicz got more good news Thursday when he learned he had scored 25 on the ACT.
“It definitely opens some options for me,” said Fiedorowicz, a 6-foot-7, 235-pounder who projects at tight end in college. With his freakish athletic ability, the only thing Fiedorowicz needed to satisfy big-time NCAA Division I programs was to score well on the ACT, which he did by blowing away his original target score of 21.
Lee Ann Fiedorowicz, C.J.’s mother, called recruiting guru Tom Lemming with the news and said Lemming told her, “He can buy his ticket anywhere with a 25.”
Lee Ann said C.J. was not a good test-taker. Neither was his brother, Kyle, or sister, Paige, both of whom play sports in college.
C.J. received his first scholarship offer in August (from Notre Dame) and made a pre-emptive academic strike.
Lee Ann’s grandfather, Douglas Rose Sr., founded Paint Brush Corp. in Vermillion, S.D., and was quite wealthy. He created funds for his 10 great-grandchildren’s educations. Because C.J. knew a football scholarship could pay his way through college, he used some of his college fund and enrolled at Sylvan Learning Center.
The program costs about $4,000, a sum Lee Ann admits she could not have afforded. C.J. also attended an ACT preparatory course, which cost him about $800. The investments proved well worth it.
“It was long, hard days,” said C.J., who started the classes before school opened. “It got boring some times. I’d go to football after school, then I’d go right to [Sylvan].”
Douglas Rose Sr. still worked at his corporation from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, but contracted pneumonia just before Thanksgiving. He died about a week later at age 95. He knew his great-grandson’s athletic future was bright but never got to see C.J.’s success on the ACT.
Fiedorowicz is considering offers to play football from Notre Dame, Arizona, Duke, Indiana, Iowa, Ohio State and Wisconsin. He has visited Notre Dame and Iowa and has visits set up for Wisconsin (March 1) and Ohio State (March 28).
He led the area in receiving yards (809) and touchdowns (11) last season and has been a Northwest Herald All-Area first-team selection the past two years.

Tight end Colton (C.J.) Fiedorowicz (Johnsburg, Ill,/Johnsburg) is one of the country's top athletes. The 6-foot-7 and 240-pound Fiedorowicz is being heavily pursued by both football and basketball recruiters.
On the football field Fiedorowicz moved into the starting lineup during the second half of his freshman season. He has played tight end, wide receiver and middle linebacker. Fiedorowicz is being recruited as a tight end.
On the basketball court Fiedorowicz averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds per game during his sophomore season.
Fiedorowicz' list of football scholarship offers is an impressive one. It includes Illinois, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Iowa, Arizona and Indiana. Fiedorowicz would like to add USC to the list.
"I like USC with the good weather and good football and all," Fiedorowicz said.

Johnsburg?s Fiedorowicz chosen to be part of TV show
Even for someone who seemingly lives in the athletic spotlight, C.J. Fiedorowicz admits this spring has become overwhelming.
?It?s stressful,? said the Johnsburg junior, one of the most highly recruited football players in Illinois. ?I?m trying not to get a big head from it.?
Fiedorowicz is hounded daily by college football coaches urging the 6-foot-6, 248-pound tight end to play for their school. On Wednesday, Fiedorowicz experienced a different spotlight when a Game Day Productions crew visited Johnsburg High School to film a feature on him that will appear on ?Sports Stars of Tomorrow? in the fall.
Announcer Pat Summerall hosts the show.
?It?s pretty good,? Fiedorowicz said. ?It definitely gives me a lot of motivation to work harder. I didn?t realize I was one of the top players in the nation.?

Last week, Fiedorowicz reportedly told bucknuts.com, an Ohio State fan Web site, that Iowa and Ohio State were his top two choices. He said Wednesday he actually has a top four comprised of Iowa, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Notre Dame. Fiedorowicz played wide receiver for three years, but projects as a tight end in college.
?I may make my decision over the summer,? Fiedorowicz said. ?I?d like to try to decide before [the high school season].?
Fiedorowicz plans to make another visit to Wisconsin sometime this spring and also plans to revisit Columbus, Ohio on Sept. 12 for the USC-Ohio State game. If he has committed elsewhere, he would not attend that game.

Meanwhile, the top-rated player in the Chicago area, 6-7, 250-pound tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz of Johnsburg, has 18 offers but admits Ohio State and Iowa head his list. He could commit on Sept. 12, when he attends the USC-Ohio State game in Columbus, Ohio. He admits the recruiting process "has been a lot tougher than I thought it would be."
"Originally, I thought I would commit in the spring, but now it will be in the fall," he said. "The process is pretty stressful. There is so much you have to look at. You have to know who is BS'ing you. College coaches are pulling you in a lot of different ways. I have narrowed my options, and now I must decide what is best for me."
Fiedorowicz still hasn't discounted Wisconsin and Notre Dame. Aside from the Sept. 12 trip to Ohio State, he plans to visit Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois before making his decision. It appears Ohio State would have an edge "if they use their offense like I want them to."
"I wish they used the tight end more. Last year, they used the tight end only 15 times [for passes]," he said. "If they don't change, I'll probably go to Iowa. It's not fun to be a tight end if all you do is block. I want to catch the ball, go for deep and mid-range passes. But with Terrelle Pryor in the offense, will they want to pass the ball to the tight end a lot?"
Fiedorowicz has worked hard to become the best football prospect he can be. He passed up baseball this spring to improve his quickness by sprinting on the track team. He has been timed in 11.4 seconds for 100 meters and 23.8 for the 200. He covers 40 yards in 4.5 seconds. He's a member of Johnsburg's 400-meter relay that qualified for the state finals.

Has a top three of Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin. Illinois has been making a push under new coach Joe Gilbert, and likes Wisconsin's and Iowa's use of tight ends.
