Getting ready to put together an article about the Illini recruiting class so far and where it is headed as we head into the season. Give me your feeback...what recruits have you excited...what recruits do you most want to land...what coach is doing the best job on the recruiting trail, etc.?

Which recruits have me the most excited:
- Pocic
- Foster
- Hardeman

Which recruits do I most want to land that currently list Illinois:
- Ellis
- B. Green
- Charest
- Sands
- Young
- More help at LB

I'll add a new topic...Which recruits do I wish would have committed to Illinois instead of going elsewhere:
- Kemp
- Fleming

The players I am most excited about are Hardeman and Pocic.

I really want to see Charest in an Illini uniform just because I think we need to land a good quarterback in this class and he seems to be the best one available to us.

With Filer and Goebel headed elsewhere, I think that Brandon Green would have to be near the top of the Illini "wish list", and Zook should have a good chance to land him.

DT Reggie Ellis would probably be #2 on the "wish list" - he's got a nice offer list, so landing him will be a challenge.

I also like TE London Davis, who has Illinois in his top five (probably near the top of that list).

QB MarQueis Gray out of Indianapolis would be a nice heir apparent to Juice Williams.

Illinois should have a reasonable chance to sign LB Justin Staples and RB Isaiah Pead out of Ohio. Maybe Glenville CB Donnie Fletcher as well.

Of the current verbals, Graham Pocic really stands out. I'd be kind of surprised if Jack Ramsey (5' 11", 182 lbs) stays at QB, regardless of what Zook has told him.

The secondary should be interesting to watch. Bo Flowers may surprise a lot of fans early this season, especially if there are injuries. This area should be a strong asset by the 2nd or 3rd game, implementing the new personnel.

I'm also definitely interested to see where Anthony Morris ends up. His size and speed translate well to being big safety like Mayes at USC.

Here is who I am most excited about from our commits.

2007 commits

1. D'Angelo McCray- 6'4" 290 lb DT Jacksonville, FL-Will be recovering from knee surgery but extremely athletic and explosive. Could also possibly play TE.

2. Anthony Morris-6'3" 200 lb WR/S Harvey, IL-Could play on either side of the ball. Comes from the same HS as Napoleon Harris, Tai Streets, and Antwaan Randle-EL.

3. Daniel Dufrene-5'11" 205 lb RB Visalia,CA-Juco RB by way of Vanderbilt and played his HS ball in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Speedster will be much needed with lack of depth at RB position.

2008 commits

1. Graham Pocic 6'7" 316 lb OT Lemont, IL- Big mammoth OT that had offers from UM, Tennessee, FSU, UF, and others. Friends with Goebel and PA OL Tyler Sands.

2. Donsay Hardemann 6'2" 220 S Milledgeville, GA- Juco S from Jacksonville, FL. Big time athlete that had an offer from the UMiami.

3. Nate Palmer 6'3" 228 lb LB Chicago, IL-HS teammate of Martez Wilson and Jack Ramsey. Only played in 4 games as a junior before breaking ankle. Athletic freak who should have a huge senior season and could become known nationally.

Most excited about (Class of 07)

Chris Gamble just feels underrated in this class
Troy Pollard should help the return game (video is very impressive)
Marc Jackson should be a stud down the road

Most excited commits 08
Hardeman can never have enough big dbs
Pocic great potential and appears to be the face of our class so far
Foster hopefully he turns out to be like his favorite player

Most wanted recruit
Thomas just seems like a reggie bush clone
Charest can never have enough depth at qb

I get excited about every recruit though so, i am just looking forward to some football.
