How unknown is he?

He has no rivals profile, no scout profile, and jeff ehrmann (Maryland scout site writer) who knows everything and anyone regarding local MD/DC recruits hasnt heard anything about him.

Regardless of how unknown he is, Jeff Johnson over at Rivals is very high on him and he has seen his highlight tape and will hopefully get it up on Rivals asap for the rest of us to see, but if Jeff is high on him then I am high on him. Also, as soon as the coaches saw the tape they offered pretty much immediately after they received his grades so that should tell you something

From O&B News...Maryland and Illinois have offered and Virginia and Syracuse appear to be close. Colorado State, Duke and Harvard have been in contact. Says he knows where he will sign but is likely to wait.

Agree with lopo on this one...Zook's to lose.

yea, at this point, something drastic would have to happen at Illinois. It doesnt matter what other schools do. Illinois would have to screw up royally.

From the UVA site...Illinois and Maryland are his lone offers, but UVA is showing a lot of interest. Duke, Colorado State and Syracuse are some other schools that have indicated they may be close to offering. Plans to visit Illinois and UVA.

ESPN - Linebackers aplenty at Penn State Nike Camp - Insider

Quote:
WR Derrell Person (Washington, D.C./Coolidge)
Person sort of came out of nowhere and consistently impressed with his ability to beat press coverage and create separation off the break. He looked excellent on the hoof, displayed quickness and tracked the deep ball well. He showed soft, consistent hands -- something that plagued most of the participants in the WR group.

Talks about the MVP Showcase at Rutgers and the new attention he got from it. Talks about Coach Locksley and Illinois.

By M Alkire. After teammate Yeager committed to Central Michigan this week Person expressed interest, was offered, and has added CMU to his final 3 along with Syracuse and Illinois. Yeager told him that Central Michigan needed some go to guys, and Derrell thinks it would be a great opportunity for him.

Chose Syracuse over Illinois.

Once again Mike Farrell fails to do basic fact checking. Person did not have offers from all of "Illinois, Maryland, Virginia, Akron, Rutgers, Penn State, Pittsburgh and Georgia".
