Sands reports a 3.7 core GPA and a 1710 SAT.
"Sands: I'm quick and have good explosion off the ball. I'm good at pass protection and run blocking. I also have good footwork for my size, but want to improve my forty speed. My agility is good, but I need better speed and I'm working on getting my lower body stronger. I have a strong chest, but my arms need to get stronger too."

By Allen Wallace...Tyler heavily favors Illinois and Boston College over Nebraska, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech (all offered).

Will decide between Illinois and BC. Will visit BC on Sunday and will likely decide about two weeks later.

He has nice video and nice offers. I think Sands will be Illini. Just from reading his comments the past couple of articles and the way Pocic is on him, I think he'll be Illini. He has been very repetitive in these statements even in interviews with other sites. I like.

OL
Our first choice "A" list targets at Offensive Line this year were Sedlacek, Pocic, Allen, Sands and Young.
We have a chance at landing all five of them -- which is pretty damn good.
Some of these guys may not have huge stars next to their names yet but they were all identified really early and all got early offers from our staff. That's all that matters to me ...

Agreed...if the Illini staff thought enough of these kids to send out early offers and recruit them aggressively, then it shouldn't matter how many stars Rivals or Scout gave them.

Illini fans have certainly not been short on confidence since Coach Zook took over...
I too would be surprised if Sands didn't end up at Illinois.

Yeah you know how that goes. Win most, lose some.
I would be kind of shocked if Sands wasn't Illini. I really want him in O&B badly though. His films look dominate and plus with the offers and the fact that Illinois can get into PA a little, well, I really want Sands in O&B.

According to one of our commited players Sands is a done deal.
It shouldn't be that hard to figure out who the commited player is.

Exactly what the OL needs. Someone who says, "You do not come through my space."

From the BC site...will announce either Wednesday or Thursday.
I think that was a pretty positive update for Illinois on the heels of his visit to BC...an old rule of recruiting thumb is if the kid doesn't leave your school with you as his leader, that does not bode well.
