With the school year set to end at Chamblee on Friday, running back Warren Norman is busy preparing for summer football camps at Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt.

The 5-foot-10, 191-pound Norman hopes his athleticism and 4.42 speed in the 40 will be sufficient to catch the eyes of recruiters. He remains confident that his first scholarship offer will follow.

“I had a couple of coaches come up and watch spring practice and they said the same thing: come to camp and we’ll take it from there,” Norman said.

Norman is certainly on the recruiting radar. He earned an invitation to a Nike camp in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and the Under Armour/Scout.com Southeast Elite camp at Auburn this spring.

Now he hopes to close the deal and earn his first offer.

“I’m ready to show them that I’m capable of being a top collegiate back at the next level,” he said.

SEC offer for Chamblee RB | College recruiting | ajc.com

Chamblee running back Warren Norman has landed a scholarship offer from Vanderbilt.

“I found out Monday night,” Norman said. “Vanderbilt had been recruiting me for two or three months. And I just came back from camp there on Sunday.

“They’ve got great coaches at Vanderbilt. They just want to win. They feel like they need a couple of great players to win, and they said I’m one of them.”

The 5-foot-10, 191 pound back is also weighing offers from Georgia Tech and Iowa State.

“I really like Georgia Tech,” said Norman, who attended a camp at Tech on June 14. “It’s real close to home and downtown. And they run the same offense we ran last year with [former Chamblee] coach [Jim] Showfety.

“But I’m probably going to take my time and check out other schools.”

When asked which school might be the next in line to offer: “That’s very hard to say,” Norman said. “I’d probably say South Carolina, but I don’t really know.”

RB Warren Norman (5-11 192) of Georgia committed to Vanderbilt today. Norman says he let them know last night and reconfirmed his commitment this afternoon. After visiting Nashville this weekend, he felt it was the right place for him. "I love what the school is about. They have great academics and a good football team. Coach (Bobby) Johnson seems like a real good guy and so does running backs coach (Desmond) Kitchings." Norman ran for 1568 yards and 28 TDs last season and feels he's a balanced runner. "I think I do a good job of hitting the holes and getting four yards a carry. I could probably work on my footwork though." He also ran a 4.4 40 on Saturday. He has visited Georgia, Georgia Tech, FSU, Auburn, and Alabama. USC and Clemson have both shown interest in the RB but he says his commitment is firm. "I'll take my official visit to Vandy, but that's it."
