Center Grove QB picks Georgia Tech | IndyStar.com | The Indianapolis Star

Quote:
A number of big-time college football programs have been in to evaluate Jordan Luallen, and the Center Grove High School junior settled Thursday on Georgia Tech.

A 6-4, 210-pound option-style quarterback, Luallen announced at the Connersville track regional that he had picked the Atlantic Coast Conference program over Indiana and Cincinnati.

"They run the triple option, and they told me I have a chance to come in and compete for the job," said Luallen, who passed for 11 touchdowns and ran for 13 in leading Center Grove to a 9-2 season and a share of the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference championship.

"They told me I was the kind of kid they wanted as their quarterback, so I'm very excited about it."

Luallen said factors beyond football affected his decision. He said he has built a good relationship with Tech quarterbacks coach Brian Bohannan and head coach Paul Johnson, he likes the school's academics and he has several family members who live near its Atlanta campus.

"When I considered everything, it was just the right place for me. And I'm glad to get (recruiting) over with because it's an individual thing and I'm more of a team guy. Now I can get focused on our team for my senior season."

ESPN Triple option no problem for Luallen -ESPN Rise FOOTBALL

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Call them soul mates.

Sure, one is a high-level recruit, a dual-threat quarterback with a strong skill set and even stronger character. He could play for most coaches, in most places.

And yes, the other is an Atlantic Coast Conference football program, one with a history of attracting and developing pro-caliber talent. It probably could have gotten anyone, or at least someone comparably good.

Instead, they found each other: Jordan Luallen, a 6-foot-3 senior at ESPN RISE FAB 50-ranked Center Grove High School in suburban Indianapolis and the No. 22 quarterback prospect on the ESPNU 150, and Paul Johnson's Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, a resurgent program that rose to No. 20 in the BCS rankings before losing to North Carolina on Saturday.
