Less than two weeks after he attended Junior Day at Georgia Tech, the Jackets have become an early leader to land a commitment from South Paulding cornerback Ryan Ayers.

“I’m very interested in Georgia Tech,” said the 5-foot-10, 178-pound Ayers, who received a scholarship offer from Tech on Jan. 31. “I just like them right now.

“If I get to like the school a lot and get comfortable, I might commit early. I’m definitely going to go back and watch them practice in the spring.”

He will attend the Bulldogs Junior Day on March 21. UGA joins Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt, Duke and Arkansas as possible destinations for Ayers. Georgia Tech was a strong early favorite, but he was said to be very excited about the offer from the Dawgs.

By C Simmons. Auburn, Florida, Maryland and Georgia are Ayers' most recent offers. He says he is really liking Georgia Tech right now and that they lead, but adds that things could change after he takes visits.

Is Ayers bound for Georgia Tech? - ESPN

Quote:
Ryan Ayers (Douglasville, Ga./ South Paulding) will hit the road for unofficial visits this summer. He is expected to visit Florida first, followed by trips to Georgia, Ole Miss and Mississippi State. He also is likely to visit Auburn, Vanderbilt and Tennessee. The Vols and South Carolina were the two latest SEC programs to offer the talented corner. Many believe that Georgia Tech is the team to beat with Ayers, who recently placed eighth in the state of Georgia in the 100-meter dash, at the present time.
