Junior cornerback Garry Peters of Heritage High in Conyers got an offer this morning by phone from Maryland, according to Heritage defensive coordinator Andy Szatkowski.
It’s Peters’ second offer. He got one from South Carolina during the season. And while Szatkowski says Peters doesn’t hasn’t named a list of favorites, he does like Florida.
“He visited Florida this year for the Miami game, and he was blown away and has never stopped talking about how he wants to go there,” Szatkowski said.
Peters attended games at UGA, Florida, South Carolina and Alabama this past season.
Szatkowski said he expects several more offers after sending tapes. Peters is 6-foot-1, 185 pounds.
”When people look at him as a corner they are impressed because you don’t find corners that are as big as him very often,” Szatkowski said.
“He is also extremely strong. He squats around 365 and power cleans 265, and for a cornerback those are good numbers. He also has an uncanny ability to diagnose plays very quickly. When you have that kind of size and speed (4.4 40) you are going to get noticed.”

Garry Peters - College Football Recruiting 2010 - ESPN
Quote:
ESPNU 150 Watch List cornerback Garry Peters told TheClemsonInsider.com, "My leaders are Alabama and Clemson." He then commented on each school.
"I don't know too much about Alabama, but when the coaches talk to me they tell me I can play wherever I want. They tell me I can pick my position."
"(Clemson) feels like home away from home. All of the coaches are real cool. Coach Rumph is the coolest coach. The facilities are already nice and they are moving everything over to the stadium. It is going to be really nice."
Peters also gave a timetable for his announcement, "I will probably make my decision this summer. I am definitely going to commit before my senior season."

Tigers take lead for Peters > Palmetto Sports Recruiting News
Quote:

DB Garry Peters (6-1 180) of Conyers, GA made a visit to Clemson Thursday and left with the Tigers firmly in the lead for his services ahead of Alabama. "It was good, I really liked it," Peters said. "It's my favorite school right now. I liked the facilities, the coaches and the players. Coach Swinney wasn't there but I hung out with coach Rumph and he showed me around. He said they are losing a lot of people and there's a good possiblity to come in next year and play within the next two years. I'm thinking about a commtment but I have to talk to my family." Peters said that conversation will take place tonight. Might he have a decision as early as Friday? "It's possible but not likely," Peters said. Some of Peters's other offers include USC, Tennessee, Auburn, Maryland, Central Florida and East Carolina.
