Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Five-Star Academies produce plenty of highlights

Quote:

Rivals.com Football Recruiting

Now that the Rivals.com Five-Star Academy has made its final stop of the year, it's time to reflect back on some of the top talent that made this year's tour the best ever.

From the first-stop at SMU in early February all the way to the events in Virginia, Utah, Arizona and Memphis in April, more than 2,500 prospects from all over the nation attended the Rivals.com Five-Star Academy. This included many of the nation's top prospects.

Household names like Cierre Wood of Oxnard (Calif.) Santa Clara, Russell Shepard of Houston Cypress Ridge, Devon Kennard of Phoenix Desert Vista, Kevin Newsome of Chesapeake (Va.) Western Branch, Chris Davenport of Mansfield, La., and Craig Loston of Aldine (Texas) Eisenhower were all there.

At the event they learned more about how to handle the recruiting process and get better prepared for life as a college football player and life when football is complete.

ESPN - Linebackers aplenty at Penn State Nike Camp - Insider

Quote:
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Though many Midwest prospects braved poor weather and torrential downpours to arrive at Penn State, it turned out to be a beautiful day as both the Nike Football Training Camp and Elite 11 events moved from the indoor facility to the natural grass surfaces.

ESPN - Budmayr proves worth in Columbus - Insider

Quote:
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Close to 300 prospects attended one of the larger Nike Football Training Camps of the year Friday. While some marquee names were late scratches, it still included a handful of top prospects from Ohio and the greater Midwest competing hard at the Ohio State practice facilities.

The theme of the camp may have been the standout performances by some of the region's ESPN 150 Watch List prospects currently slipping under the national radar due to their lack of ideal positional measurables. Watch List prospects like quarterback Jon Budmayr (Woodstock, Ill./Marian Central Catholic) and tight end Tyler Eifert (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) fit their evaluations as great pure football players Friday worthy of ESPN 150 consideration.

Scout.com: Under Armour/Scout.com Invade Queen City

Last year, Scout.com brought its combine tour to Cincinnati only to watch a torrential downpour put the kibosh on it. Although there was no testing the participants still drilled and did one on one’s. This year Scout.com will return with their sponsor Under Armour for what should be an impressive event.

Scout.com: Speed Dominates at Cincinnati Combine

Quote:

Posted May 18, 2008

The Under Armour/Scout.com Combine staff is used to seeing speed as it travels from coast to coast, but in Cincinnati? Yes, an amazing 14 of the more than 200 players who participated in the Cincinnati combine ran sub 4.5 40-yard dashes. The Midwest is not known for its speed, but don?t tell these guys that.
