Carver, Columbus receiver Jarmon Fortson has committed to Auburn.

“I think it’s a good fit,” said Carver coach Dell McGee. “The main thing is it’s an opportunity for him to get an education at a good institution.”

Carver quarterback DeRon Furr committed to the Tigers in June.

McGee believes the two commitments to an SEC power will be a positive influence to the underclassmen in his program.

“Absolutely,” he said. “I think this really speaks for our whole city. It’s a big motivation for our kids to succeed in the classroom and on the field to, hopefully, earn a scholarship.”
