Louis Nix (6-2 1/2, 297 Jacksonville Raines) is one of the top defensive tackles in the nation for next year. Recently, Nix received a Florida offer and 2010 commitment Ian Silberman (6-5, 251, Fleming Island) was seen working Nix hard at the game. We were told something today that made us feel really good about Nix. He’s 50-50 between Florida and Miami, but we feel that in the end Florida will be tough to beat.

FVSports - The Elite100: Class of 2010
Quote:
8. Louis Nix
6'2" / 320 pounds / Defensive Tackle / Raines High School / Jacksonville, Florida
Contenders: Florida, Miami, Florida State
Scouting Report: One of the more dominant HS defensive linemen you'll ever see on film. Already has the ideal size and strength of a dominant run stopper. Has absolutely the best pop from a defensive tackle since Tommie Harris. Occupies two blockers from the one-shade and can be a sneaky pass rusher from the three-technique. Consistently gets great leverage. Destroys single blocks from pretty big first coast linemen. Very quick for his size and uses his hands fairly well. Tends to punish whoever he tackles. Nix's weight is going to be a legitimate concern looking forward. Has recently had heart complications. How his body affects his development as a player remains to be seen, but he does have the work ethic to assuage any large concern. Right up there with Marcus Forston and Jacobbi McDaniel in the last couple classes, may end up the superior prospect by his senior year.

From the LSU site. LSU is one of the many offers that Nix holds. He says that he is still committed to Miami, but that he will still take visits and check out other schools. LSU, Florida, FSU, Notre Dame and Miami make up his top five.
