'09 FL ATH Andre Debose (Florida Signee)
'09 FL ATH Andre Debose
Athlete
Sanford (FL) Seminole
Ht: 6-foot-0
Wt: 170 lbs
Forty: 4.43 secs
Class: 2009 (High School)
Florida Gators Country
Quote:
“It is going to take a while,” he said. “I do have a couple of schools in mind, but I’m [not ready]. There were some rumors that I had committed to Florida State and I have no idea where that came from. [The Florida coaches] asked if I had committed and I said no, no ... I guess it is on Warchant.com that I committed. I called someone over there and he had to correct that.”
With no end in near site, DeBose did offer up a couple of favorites at the moment. It is a duo that may surprise some.
“I never grew up liking a school, but it is pretty much Florida and Miami that are my favorites right now,” he said. “Miami is just Miami, ‘The U’. Florida wins a lot and a lot of athletes come out of there. Urban said Percy is going to the draft and he needs someone to replace him. I am thinking that could be me.”
Now before Gator and Cane fans get all riled up and ready to call this one a day, they are going to have to go through dad first. Dad is the one that will have the most influence on his final college decision.
“My daddy, Morrell DeBose, is the biggest influence on my decision,” DeBose said. “He is the man in the house and everything has to go through him. He keeps me focused on school and stuff. My mom doesn’t know too much about football and doesn’t care where I go as long as it is a free ride. My daddy is going to help me with the decision, he won’t make the decision, but he will help me. He likes Florida State.”

From the UGA site...UGA has offered and been by his school. Says he thinks USC and Oregon also recently offered and may now be at 30 offers. Considers himself wide open.
FWIW, Ohio State has now offered as well.

From the LSU site. Coach McCarthy from LSU was in to see DeBose and teamates Dye and Armstrong yesterday. He will visit LSU this summer, and also talks about Florida recruiting the trio hard.

Andre says he is very familiar with all of the in-state schools and wants to see what else is out there. He will visit many schools this summer and switch to RB this fall.

From the FSU site. Debose says he is down to 7 or 8 schools, but isn't ready to share his list yet. The Florida three are recruiting him the hardest, and he talks about his interest in FSU.

From the LSu site. Debose went through the summer with Florida looking to be his favorite, but Andre says he hasn't heard from the Gators lately. The schools at the top of his list, Miami and LSU, are recruiting him the hardest right now. He is in no hurry to decide.

ESPN - 2009 receivers have size and speed to burn - Football Recruiting

Andre DeBose (Sanford, Fla./Seminole) in our opinion could end up being a Percy Harvin-like player in college. DeBose has played QB, WR, slot, RB -- you name it, he's done it. He can fly and has game-breaking talent with the ball in his hands.

From the LSU site. Debose loved his visit to LSU and says he isn't concerned that they have lost a few games this year. He says he is "feeling really good" about the Tigers and adds that teammates Armstrong and Dye liked their time at LSU as well.

I've heard from numerous sources that DeBose is a "Harvin Clone".
They stack up similar compared to Harvin's recruiting profile back in 2006. Harvin was listed as 6'1", 188 lbs. with a 4.4 forty time, while DeBose is listed as 6", 170 lbs. with a 4.43 forty time.
Both obviously have blazing speed, both have great field vision.
I think if DeBose can undergo a successful strength training process, he'll be a huge success. Maybe if he stays away from injuries and is durable, he can have a better career than that of Harvin.
