One of the elite 2012 talents in the state, Edwards was sensational at times this past weekend as he continues his evolution as one of the talented lead guards in the country for the sophomore class. Edwards scored at will, handled the ball well, showed solid dribble penetration skills, and also knocked down a few perimeter shots as well. Has made the transition from forward to lead guard very well in only a few short months and looks primed to take on the 2009 BOC and be one of the impact performers week in and week out. One of the best this past weekend.

One of the top 2012 prospects in the state, Nolan didn't disappoint this weekend as a long wiry interior talent showed flashes of his potential with a number of quality moves on Saturday. He grabbed rebounds, hit some shots around the basket, and showed range that extends beyond the arc as well. Has a tendency to stay on the perimeter too much which is always a potential issue with young bigs with range but on the blocks he can get his shot fairly easy and that was evident a number of times this past weekend. Look for him to improve each week and make his mark this fall after a quality showing during the first week.

So now with Van out of the picture, that probably leaves Lavonte Dority getting his scholarship and filling up the point guard vacancy. Thus leaving us 3 open spots as of right now for the 2011 class. With Devon Hodges (SF/PF) already on board.

Now that still means that we need another point guard in the 2011 class which leaves the candidates as of right now.

Trey Lewis (offer)
Chasson Randle (offer)
George Marshall
Darell Longstreet (doubtful, probably goes juco route)

Lewis and Randle are two that the staff would probably take both, because of Chasson's versatility. However it seems as though we are now trailing for Randle, and I dont see it likely that he commits to UW. Lewis plays at the same school (Garfield Heights) as current badger Rob Wilson, and UW is currently his best offer. As Ole said if UW is serious about him there is a very good chance he ends up at Wisconsin.

Moving on is a guy im just hearing about in George Marshall, who many consider to be one of the better players in another loaded Illinois class. Im not sure of the level of interest from Wisconsin, but its clear there is an interest from the other side as he has already visited Wisconsin. Very little reason to speak on the talented, but questionable qualfier known as Darell Longstreet who has a lot of work to do before he gets any type of D1 offer.

At the wing position we currently have 1 verbal who may eventually slide down to PF depending on how he grows over the next 2 years. Devon Hodges is a very young prospect (still only 15) who has received much criticism from the UW fateful for not making any of the preseason Illinois top 25 lists. This is very unfair in my opinion as he quit playing AAU basketball and has been solely focusing on improving his game. His high school team is also switching to the swing offense so he will be well trained by the time he arrives at UW. Outside of Hodges there is an abundance of interest for wing prospects. I see two commits from Wings in this class plus Hodges.

Achraf Yacoubou (Villanova Verbal)
Markus Crider (Offer)
Jakar Sampson
Ladonte Henton
Sam Thompson
Quevyn Winters
Josh Oglesby
Spencer Turner
Paul Jesperson

Yacoubou obviously has commited to Nova, and was honestly a weird offer to start. Maybe a sign of things to come for us recruiting the New York area? Markus Crider is a player who has already expressed that Wisconsin is his top school and plans on visiting soon. He is a very athletic and skilled wing player. Who could end up one of the top players in Ohio if he can loose the Lamar Odom mentality, and enforce himself more as an offensive player. Jakar Sampson is an extremely athletic forward who uses that athleticism to the fullest. Im not sure if we are very high on his list, but one to keep an eye out for. Henton is an MSU lean IMO, but another guy to keep an eye out for.

Sam Thomspon recently (a few months ago) released a top school list of around 15 schools. UW was nowhere on that list, but there were reports that Wisconsin was just starting to pick up interest in the 6'5 guard from Illinois. Quevyn is my favorite recruit in this class the Milwaukee forward has been dominate over the summer on the AAU circuit, and I would be surprised if no offer was extended. Josh Oglesby and Spencer Turner are both great shooter, and remind me of Jason Bohannon in their ability to shoot from deep. Oglesby however projects to more of a wing as he is already being listed at 6'5. Paul Jesperson is one of the most interesting prospects in Wisconsin imo. He is a legit 6'5 and has the skill set of a PG, however is he better then the aforementioned players? That is what we will have to see.

As post players there are a few players who have really recieved a vested interest from Wisconsin. Minus Illinois commit Nnana Egwu, and Louisville commit Zach Price. A couple of names out there are.

Darnell Harris
Trevor Jorgenson
Cinmeon Bowers
Ross Travis
Mitch McGary
Percy Gibson
