Notre Dame offers Norcross RB; UGA wants safety Kent | Football recruiting | ajc.com

Quote:
Earlier this week, teammate D.J. Adams was able to add Notre Dame to an already impressive recruiting portfolio.

“[Notre Dame assistant] coach [Jon] Tenuta called on Tuesday and offered D.J. He also just got an offer from Arkansas. But when a school like Notre Dame gets involved, a lot of other schools get involved.”

Adams, a running back who rushed for 1,462 yards as a junior, has offers from programs such as Boston College, Clemson, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina, N.C. State, Rutgers and Wake Forest.

Noticeably absent from Adams’ list of offers is Georgia and Tech.

“Tech and Georgia, I just don’t know,” Maloof said. “I think Georgia probably has all the backs they want.”

WholeHogSports.com - RECRUITING : Razorbacks trying to restock after loss of talented backfield

Quote:
Arkansas recently offered Norcross, Ga., running back D. J. Adams, 5-10, 190, 4. 48, a scholarship. Adams has several relatives who live in Little Rock and his mother, the former Karen Powell, is an Arkansas graduate.

Adams rushed for 1, 462 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior on 204 carries. Adams also caught 12 passes for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns.

“My mother has told me a lot of great things about Arkansas,” said Adams, who has more than 10 offers. “All my relatives in Little Rock are Arkansas fans and go to all the football games at War Memorial Stadium when the Razorbacks play there. I will take both an unofficial and an official visit to Arkansas.”

While remaining open, D.J. Adams says that he likes Maryland slightly over Clemson, Auburn and Georgia Tech - "but that's probably because I've been to those schools." Adams also says he really likes Notre Dame and plans to visit the Irish later this month. Of those schools, neither Auburn nor Georgia Tech have offered. "I love the tradition at Notre Dame. I know last season was a rebuilding..."

WholeHogSports.com - THE RECRUITING GUY : Late signee intent on being a Razorback

Quote:
Arkansas hosted one of the top running backs in the nation on an unofficial visit Thursday.

D. J. Adams 5-10, 212, 4. 48 of Norcross, Ga., has more than 30 scholarship offers, including one from the Razorbacks.

His mother is originally from Arkansas and he still has many relatives living in the state, including her parents.

Adams’ family — including his parents, younger sister Faith and his grandparents — arrived in Branson, Mo., on Monday to celebrate his grandparents’ 50 th wedding anniversary.

They then made their way to Fayetteville on Thursday to take an unofficial visit to Arkansas. Assistant coaches Tim Horton and Lorenzo Ward gave the whole family a tour of the Arkansas campus.

“The visit was very informative, very nice, and it actually was more than I expected,” said Adams, who has a 375-pound bench press and a 515-pound squat. ” The coaching staff is really nice. The facilities are some of the best I’ve seen, and I’ve been to some places around the country. I got a chance to talk to some of the players that were doing their summer workouts.

“Arkansas definitely moved up on my list after the visit.” Adams and his father had a 10- to 15-minute visit with Coach Bobby Petrino. “That went well,” said Adams, who rushed for 1, 462 yards on 205 carries last season. “He’s a very laidback guy. You can tell he’s very smart, a very smart football guy compared to a lot of other coaches I’ve been around. He knows what he’s talking about, and you can tell he knows what he wants to do. “ That’s something I look for in a coach.” Adams said Petrino mentioned that he expected Arkansas to be in the running for a SEC championship in the near future, along with the national championship.

By M Day. Committed to Maryland over Notre Dame, Florida State and Clemson. He says that Maryland came after him the hardest throughout the process, and that they just fit him the best. He likes the ACC and says that the fact he will be playing in it had an effect on his choice as well. He isn't sure if he will still take some official visits.
