Allen Checks Out USC
By Phil Kornblut
TE Dwayne Allen (6-4 240) of Fayetteville, NC made an unofficial visit to USC Saturday for the Mississippi State game and got a good look at the Gamecocks. "It was fun," Allen said. "The coaching staff treated me well. I was introduced to coach Spurrier. I had a great time. I got the opportunity to meet some of the players from my state. It was fun to watch the offense, how they use the tight end, and then talk to the coaches about where they saw me playing in that offense." Allen has been a Georgia commitment and he said he remains so, but he will take an unofficial visit to Clemson for this week's game against Virginia Tech. After that trip, he's going to take a break from recruiting. "I'm putting all the recruiting to the side until I evaluate and look at all the schools," he said. "I'm putting it to the side so I can go out and have a great senior year." Allen was scheduled for an official visit to Georgia for November 9th but he plans to reschedule that for after the season. He's undecided about his other official visits. Allen also has offers from North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, Miami, Alabama, NC State, East Carolina and Florida State.

Allen reaffirms commitment to UGA; Jackson to visit LSU
By Jeff Hood
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 10/02/07 10:57 PM
Dwayne Allen, a 6-foot-4, 242-pound tight end for Terry Sanford High in Fayetteville, N.C., has reaffirmed his plans to play college football at Georgia.
Allen, one of the Bulldog’s first commitments in the class of 2008, appeared to back off on Georgia during the summer.
But he made his future intentions very clear Tuesday night.
“I am committed to Georgia,” Allen said.
Georgia coach Mark Richt and his staff played an integral role in Allen’s decision to play for the Bulldogs.
“The stability of the coaching staff at Georgia is one of the most important things I look for,” he said. “The relationship between me and my position coach is important.
And I feel I have a great relationship with [Georgia tight ends] coach Dave Johnson.”
Allen admitted that he still plans to visit other schools this fall.
He attended South Carolina’s victory over Mississippi State on Saturday. Allen is scheduled to be at Death Valley in Clemson this weekend when the Tigers host Virginia Tech.
“It was my first time down to Columbia,” Allen said. “It was a good visit. I went with some friends and had a good time.
“I was personally introduced to [South Carolina coach] Steve Spurrier and some of the players.”

Harper, Allen No Shows At Clemson
By Phil Kornblut
Two top prospects who had planned to make unofficial visits to Clemson Saturday, RB Jamie Harper (6-0 222) of Jacksonville, FL and TE Dwayne Allen (6-4 240) of Fayetteville, NC, didn't make it in. Harper had planned to ride in with his friend, quarterback Kyle Parker, who has already committed to Clemson. "It was raining pretty bad and his daddy didn't want us to drive, so we just chilled this weekend," Harper said. "I haven't really been too much focusing on recruiting. I've been working on the grades. I'm still open. They are all recruited me about the same. Nobody is standing out too much." Clemson and USC are among the more than 30 offers for Harper. He has not decided on his official visits but conceded that Clemson "probably will get one." Harper has been to games at Clemson, Florida and Auburn and will go to the Miami at Florida State game this weekend. In five games this season he has rushed for 535 yards and 8 touchdowns and is averaging 12.8 yards per carry.
Allen, who has been committed to Georgia, said he just decided not to make the visit. He has been to USC, Georgia and North Carolina unofficially. Georgia is the only official visit he is certain about.

Allen Going To Blacksburg Thursday
By Phil Kornblut
The big ACC showdown between Boston College and Virginia Tech Thursday night in Blacksburg will attract nationwide attention, but it won't attract the large number of major recruits who ordinarily would attend a game like this played on a Saturday because of school and high school games the next day. But one major recruit who plans to be at Lane Stadium is TE Dwayne Allen (6-4 240) of Fayetteville, NC. Allen said Wednesday night he will be in Blacksburg for the game. Allen has been committed to Georgia but has been checking out other places. He has been to games this season at USC, Georgia, North Carolina and NC State. Asked if he remains a Georgia commitment, Allen said, "No comment." But he did say Georgia was still his favorite. Allen talked with USC recruiter Fred Chatham Wednesday night. "He just asked about how I was doing," he said. "He talked about where he saw me in their offense and the different types of things they can do with a guy like me." Clemson recruiter Chris Rumph scouted Allen last Friday night. And he also talked with the Georgia tight end coach a couple of nights ago. Except for an official visit to Georgia, Allen said he's undecided about his other trips.

Allen reaffirms plans to sign with Georgia
Dwayne Allen, a tight end for Terry Sanford High in Fayetteville, NC, attended Georgia?s victory over Auburn on Saturday and came away impressed with his 48-hour stay in Athens.
?It was a wonderful visit,? said Allen, who returned home from Athens on Monday morning. ?I really felt at home.
?The game was great. And the blackout certainly helped the atmosphere.?
Allen, who is being recruited as a tight end, attempted to squelch rumors that he might be reconsidering the commitment he made to the Dogs in February.
?I?m with Georgia,? Allen said Monday evening.
Allen plans to be in Blacksburg, Va. on Saturday when Virginia Tech hosts Miami.

Allen Trims List By Two
By Phil Kornblut
TE Dwayne Allen (6-4 240) of Fayetteville, NC has cut two teams from his list and he works on his plans for January official visits. Off his board are Florida and Virginia. That leaves USC, Clemson, North Carolina, Florida State and Virginia Tech vieing for his four January visits. Allen has visited Georgia and said he remains committed to the Bulldogs. Allen will play in the Under Armour All Star Game in Orlando and might decide on his other official visits during that week.

Now, aside from playing basketball and helping his team win, the big challenge left for Allen is making his final college choice. He committed verbally to Georgia early in the process, but he has since decided to keep his options open and continue the recruiting process.
Allen has already visited Georgia, Florida State and North Carolina and is planning trips to Clemson and Virginia Tech before signing day.
“I’m about to make the biggest decision of my life,’’ Allen said.
He will listen to scouts, to his high school coaches, to friends and most important of all, his family.
“My family is important in my decision, but at the end of the day, it’s my decision,’’ he said. “I’m going to sit down, write down the schools I like, the things I like about those schools and go from there.’’
“Feb. 6 is right around the corner,’’ Boyette said. “I think we’ll all be glad to see that date get here, and him make his decision.’’
