Brown To Watch USC Saturday
By Phil Kornblut
WR Jaron Brown (6-3 190) of Cheraw plans to be at USC's season opener Saturday, and he would like to attend Clemson's game with Florida State Labor Day night, but with school the next day, that probably won't be possible. The Gamecocks and Tigers have offered Brown as have Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Duke and West Virginia. He has a top five of USC, Clemson, West Virginia, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. He does not have a favorite. Brown, who also plays safety, said all the schools are recruiting him primarily as a receiver.

Brown Holding Steady With Top Five
By Phil Kornblut
WR Jaron Brown (6-3 190) of Cheraw has had a top five of Clemson, USC, Tennessee, West Virginia and Vanderbilt, and those remain his favorites after his unofficial visit to USC last Saturday. "The loss didn't affect my opinion of South Carolina," Brown said. Brown also was at USC for the Kentucky game and he plans to be at Tennessee this weekend when the Vols meet the Gamecocks. His parents will join him on that visit. Brown had planned to attend the Virginia Tech at Clemson game earlier this month but had to take the SAT that morning and couldn't make it to the upstate. He has set an official visit with Tennessee for December 7th but probably will need to reschedule because that's the weekend for reporting for Shrine Bowl practice.

Brown To Watch Clemson Saturday
By Phil Kornblut
WR Jaron Brown (6-3 190) of Cheraw didn't make it to the USC-Florida game last weekend, but he plans to be at Clemson this Saturday for the Boston College game. This will be his first ever game at Death Valley. "I expect the guys to get after it," Brown said. "They are coming off a good win." Brown has made two unofficial visits to USC and one to Tennessee. And he has scheduled official visits to USC November 30th and Tennessee January 11th. He also will set official visits with Clemson and West Virginia. He does not have a favorite. "I'm taking it slow," he said. "South Carolina and West Virginia are recruiting me the hardest." Brown said all of his favorites are recruiting him as a receiver, and Tennessee also has talked to him about playing safety. The Shrine Bowl pick has 23 catches for 520 yards and has scored a total of 11 touchdowns this season.

Brown Experiences Clemson
By Phil Kornblut
WR Jaron Brown (6-3 190) of Cheraw made his ever trip to Clemson for a football game Saturday when the Tigers tangled with Boston College. "It was loud and crazy," Brown said. He spent most of his time with his friend, Clemson walk on receiver Phillip Ashe. He also talked briefly with Tommy Bowden and Dabo Swinney. Brown also has made unofficial visits to USC and Tennessee. He plans to attend the Clemson at USC game this Saturday night. He has scheduled an official visit to USC for November 30th but that will have to be changed if his team makes it to the 2A state title game. He has an official visit with Tennessee set for January 1th. He also plans to set officials with Clemson and West Virginia. Brown said USC is recruiting him strictly as a receiver while Clemson likes him for receiver and safety. "I prefer playing receiver but I wouldn't mind playing safety," he said. In last Friday's win over Dillon Brown had two interceptions and forced one fumble.

Brown Says Clemson Leads
By Phil Kornblut
WR Jaron Brown (6-3 190) of Cheraw said Sunday night Clemson is out front of USC right now as he tries to sort out his recruiting. "I'm leaning more towards the in state schools right now," Brown said. "And I'm leaning more towards Clemson right now but I have to see how the whole thing turns out. I'm looking at receiver depth and the chance to play early." Brown was visited last week by recruiters from Clemson, USC, Tennessee and West Virginia. Clemson recruiter Dabo Swinney plans to visit with his parents Tuesday while Brown is in Spartanburg with the Shrine Bowl team. Brown plans to make official visits to USC January 11th, Clemson on the 18th and Tennessee on the 25th and is working to set up a visit to West Virginia.

Brown Still Calling Clemson Favorite
By Phil Kornblut
WR Jaron Brown (6-3 190) of Cheraw will be one of the starting receivers for the Sandlappers Saturday in the Shrine Bowl. Brown had said earlier this month he was favoring Clemson and he repeated that position after practice Thursday. "I'm kind of looking at the receiver depth and that sort of thing," Brown said. "I still have a top four of Clemson, USC, West Virginia and Tennessee." Brown has scheduled official visits to Tennessee for January 11th and Clemson January 18th. He was scheduled to visit USC November 30th but had to play in the state championship game that weekend. He plans to reset that visit soon. As for other criteria he's considering in looking at the schools, Brown said some of those are, "The coaching staff. You know, I think that's key. And overall success rate of the program. And academics are a major key as well." Brown said he plans to make his decision in mid-January.

Jaron says he is leaning to the two in-state schools with Clemson in a slight lead, but WVU and Tennessee are still in consideration.
