Hawkins has picked up offers from Florida, Auburn, Rutgers, Maryland and North Carolina State and is hearing from a host of others.
One school that has offered could be in the driver's seat for his signature.
"I grew up an Auburn fan. I've been an Auburn fan for a long time."
Hawkins currently has the Tigers along with Florida and Maryland in his top three.

Baldwin junior getting plenty of early looks
Quote:
With a little more than a month before National Signing Day, Baldwin head coach Jesse Hicks is a busy man.
He believes at least five Baldwin players could sign this season. But in between trying to find scholarships for those players, Hicks made the trip with junior linebacker Corico Hawkins to San Antonio for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl combine for juniors.
"Hopefully, we'll get out there and he'll move right into the top 100 or so players," Hicks said.
Hawkins already has offers from Auburn, Florida, Maryland, N.C. State and Rutgers.

By M. Day. Hawkins lists his favorites as Florida, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Florida State, and NC State. He says he will not play anywhere that is more than five hours away. Florida is recruiting him the hardest.

LB Corico Hawkins (6-0 225) of Milledgeville, GA made a two day unofficial visit to Clemson last week, and the result has the Tigers at the top of his list. "I was very impressed," Hawkins said. "The things they have facility wise is amazing. It's the best I've seen. I spent time with the whole staff. I talked with coach Bowden both days. We had two sit downs. I just love everything about Clemson. The facilities, the location, everything." Hawkins said he might return to Clemson this Saturday for the spring game. Is committing on his mind? "I'm not sure," he said. "It might be. Whenever I get that feeling that this is the school I want to be at the next four years, I'll commit." Hawkins also made a recent visit to Florida State. He also has offers from USC, Florida, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Miami and a few others. Last season Hawkins had 102 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 2 sacks.

LB Corico Hawkins (6-0 225) of Milledgeville, GA has cut his list of over 20 offers down to a final three of Clemson, Auburn and Florida. A few weeks ago, after visiting Clemson for a spring practice, Hawkins declared a strong lean to the Tigers and indicated a commitment could be forthcoming. That's not the case now. "I'm going to take my time and look into these schools and see what kind of impact I would have at those three schools," Hawkins said. "So, I'm going to take my time and make sure I'm happy with my decision." Hawkins said he talked with his Clemson recruiter Chris Rumph last Tuesday. Hawkins had planned to attend Clemson's spring game but didn't make it in. He did go to a Nike combine at Florida last weekend.

LB Corico Hawkins (6-0 225) of Milledgeville, GA has been favoring Clemson, Auburn and Florida since the spring, and now in the middle of the summer, nothing has changed. Clemson, Auburn and Florida reman his top three. "I haven't talked to any coaches over the summer," Hawkins said. "I'm focusing on my senior year." Hawkins has not been to any camps or made any unofficial visits. He will take official visits to Clemson, Auburn and Florida and will visit some schools for games this fall. Hawkins said he will announce his college choice on Holloween, which also is his birthday.

LB Corico Hawkins (6-0 225) of Milledgeville, GA said Tuesday night he's made a college decision and will announce the choice at a news conference Friday afternoon at Baldwin County High School. Hawkins narrowed his list to Clemson, Florida and Auburn. "Yea, I know who the school is," Hawkins said. "Nobody else knows. It's an orange school. I found all the things I wanted in a school. The school has the facilities, the location and the chance to win the conference and national titles." Hawkins had over 25 offers to choose from. Last season he had 102 tackles with 22 tackles for loss and two sacks.

LB Corico Hawkins (6-0 225) of Milledgeville, GA committed today to Clemson over Auburn and Florida. Hawkins made the announcement at a news conference at his school this afternoon. "The facilities, location and playing time were all things I was thinking about," Hawkins said. "Playing time was a major factor because the depth is not that deep. "It'd be a great place for me to go in and play. I can display my skills as a freshman or sophomore." Hawkins is Clemson's 12th commitment and third linebacker pledge for the 2009 class. Former Clemson and NFL linebacker Leroy Hill is his cousin, but Hawkins never saw him play in person at Death Valley. He's never been to a game at Clemson. "I haven't really gotten a chance to experience the fans yet," he said. "I will be attending the first home game. I've heard they have the best fans in college football, ever. The coaching staff are exceptionally great guys. My recruiting coordinator, Chris Rumph, told me that I would love Clemson. In the end, he was telling me the truth. My linebackers coach, David Blackwell, has put guys in the NFL, like Leroy Hill and Anthony Waters." Hawkins said his commitment to Clemson is a firm one.

ESPN: College Football Recruiting On the Trail 2009
Quote:
Inside linebacker Corico Hawkins onboard with Clemson
Clemson has landed another big commitment as Corico Hawkins of Milledgeville, Ga., rated as 9th among inside linebackers in the Class of 2009, announced he will sign with the Tigers.
The 6-foot, 225-pound prospect chose Clemson over Florida and Auburn.
ESPN's Billy Tucker elaborated on the pledge, "Clemson and recruiting coordinator Billy Napier have done a great landing top-tier ESPN 150 talents like safeties Craig Loston (Aldine, Texas/Dwight D. Eisenhower) and Devonte Holloman (Rockhill, S.C./South Pointe), but they also have targeted and landed a few under-the-radar prospect who are simply great football players and project to have productive careers as future Tigers."
"Hawkins fits that mold as well as his future linebacker teammate Quandon Christian (Lake View, S.C.). He is a top-10 middle linebacker in this 2009 class but could be undervalued on the national level due to his lack of prototypical size and raw technique at this stage. However, Hawkins plays like he?s 6-foot-2, 235-pounds between the white lines and will refine his hand technique and overall linebacker technique with Clemson?s good coaching."
"The Georgia native is very powerful, thickly-built and has the bulk to handle the punishment in the middle at the next level -- as a well as dish it out. His explosiveness in the short-area tracking down ball carriers is striking and his strength and solid base at the point of attack is impressive. Hawkins? range may be limited to between the tackles and flexibility is a concern in space, but he should develop into a solid inside run plugger at Clemson."
Hawkins holds over 25 offers including Miami-Florida, Florida State, Oklahoma State, Maryland, North Carolina State and Georgia Tech. The Tigers now have 13 pledges.
