Scout (free)

8/1

Cal leads slightly over Stanford, Arizona State, Alabama, Florida, and Clemson. Location will not matter.

Deboskie Keeps Clemson Among Favorites

By Phil Kornblut
RB Covaughn Deboskie (5-11 191) of Chandler, AZ has a final seven list of Clemson, Cal, Stanford, Florida, Georgia, Alabama and Arizona State. He has not scheduled his official visits but he said three of them probably will be Stanford, Alabama and Florida. He will take an unofficial visit to Cal for the season opener with Tennessee. Deboskie said he's getting a lot of email from Clemson but Cal, Stanford and Arizona State seem to be recruiting the hardest. Deboskie said location will not be a factor in his decision. "I'm in the process of doing my pros and cons," he said.

Covaughn Deboskie, ranked No. 24 in the Southwest, No. 135 nationally and the No. 16 running back in the country by Scout.com, still favors California slightly over Stanford, Arizona State, Florida, Georgia Tech and Alabama. All of his favorites have offered (19 total). Although he hasn't set up any official visits yet, Deboskie will be attending the Cal/Tennessee game on Sept. 1.

Hamilton's Deboskie picks Cal

Quote:
Chandler Hamilton High running back Covaughn Deboskie, who graduated a semester early, will get a head start on his California football career by enrolling for the spring semester so he can participate in spring workouts, Hamilton coach Steve Belles said.

Deboskie, who also considered Arizona State and Stanford, can't sign his letter of intent until the signing period for high school seniors begins next month.

Belles said California had the inside track last spring when it began recruiting the honors student, who is versatile enough to play either running back or slot back.
