Thompson's ability to run and catch, his straight A's and his 6-foot-2, 208-pound frame have many colleges across the country eager for him to reach the end zone for their programs.

Thompson grades out as the area's No. 1 football recruit entering the 2008 season. After receiving his first scholarship offer as a sophomore, Thompson now has offers from Nebraska, Air Force and UNLV. More schools have noticed him, particularly after a recent whirlwind of camps and combine participation.

Deseret News | BYU football: Team lands a top California receiver

Quote:
Brett Thompson, a star receiver at Oak Ridge High in California, announced his pledge to sign with BYU as part of the class of 2009.
Thompson made decided to announce his decision before his senior year of football in El Dorado Hills this fall because he didn't want to juggle recruiters and distract from his season.

"I called coach (Brandon) Doman this morning after seminary and he handed the phone to Bronco Mendenhall. "It's a place I always wanted to go to and it's a great fit for me personally so I decided not to prolong the process," Thompson told the Deseret Morning News this morning.
