Quote:
Watson is a two-way player at the high school level as a tight end and defensive end. He may in the long run be better suited for the defensive end position. Either way he will need to add serious bulk to his lean and rangy frame. He does on film look to be a long-limbed kid and seems to have a good wingspan. Displays a solid get-off. Will flash the ability to shoot his hands and maintain some separation. He needs to do that much more consistently. He is adequate at the point-of-attack, but with his size you worry some about him being able to hold his ground. He is a physical kid that will lower his shoulder and create a collision, but would like to see him uses his hands to more quickly shed. He has a good motor. Would like to see him channel some of his energy into better overall technique. Displays good straight line speed, but needs to refine his running motion some as he can seem to have a lot of wasted motion on the move. He will try and work swim moves as a pass rusher, but at times it is too little too late as he will attack a blocker head-up and often led shoulder first. Has the reach to cause some problems off the edge, but needs to have a better plan of attack. Watson is a solid prospect who flashes some upside.
The Herald | HeraldOnline.com - Transfers' status nearing resolution - Rock Hill, SC

Quote:
Rock Hill's Asa Watson, a 6-4, 200-pound tight end/wide receiver, has offers from Boston College, Duke, Furman, Georgia Tech, Maryland and N.C. State.

Watson has no favorite at this time, but there are ties to two schools. His father, Ken Watson, played linebacker at Maryland.

His older brother, Ben Watson, graduated from Northwestern and signed with Duke. He played there one season before transferring to Georgia. He is the starting tight end for the New England Patriots.
