Arkansas was quick to offer a scholarship to running back Darryl Fields of Madill, Okla., shortly after viewing his highlight tape, Madill Coach Kenny Roberts said.
Roberts said he knew Arkansas was excited about Fields when quarterbacks coach Garrick McGee called to talk about him. "Then about 10 minutes later Bobby Petrino called and about 10 minutes later McGee and the running back coach called," Roberts said. "They had already offered him by the time Coach Petrino called."
Fields, 6-2/2, 195, 4.48 seconds in the 40-yard dash, has scholarship offers from Tulsa, SMU, Rice, Kansas State, Texas Tech and Arkansas, who offered him about two weeks ago.

"I want to go out of state, but I don't want to go too far." Fields said.
He said he'll probably go to Oklahoma's camp and hopes to visit SMU, Arkansas and Tulsa during the summer.
"If I don't make a decision after the season, it will probably be close to signing day," said Fields, who said he'll probably take all five of his official visits.
