The offer from the Hogs was Hefley's second, with Kansas State being his first. Oklahoma State followed suit and offered him on Wednesday. In addition to his offers, Hefley is receiving interest from Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, Nebraska and Alabama.
Hefley moved to Joplin about a month ago from Riverton, Kan., where he recorded 42 unassisted tackles, 48 assisted tackles and 22 tackles for losses and returned one interception for a touchdown last year. Offensively, he caught 9 passes for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed 10 times for 134 yards and 3 touchdowns.
A four-sport athlete, Hefley possesses impressive strength with a 335-pound bench press and 460-pound squat. He's also recorded a 26-inch vertical and a 4.6 pro-shuttle time.
Arkansas is recruiting Hefley as a tight end. Before Saturday's scrimmage, he was able to sit in a meeting held by graduate assistant coach Chip Long.
Hefley, who has attended Arkansas' camps the past two summers, said he's no stranger to Arkansas, with family members on his mother's side living in West Fork and Rogers.
"Arkansas is definitely up there towards the top," Hefley said. "I have a lot of family that goes to Arkansas. Right now, it's the closest to home. It's only an hour-and-a-half drive away. I've always liked Arkansas. My dad got his master's from there."
