WholeHogSports.com - RECRUITING : Hogs go after talented receivers inside, outside state
Quote:
Inside the state, Pulaski Academy’s Neal Barlow, 6-7, 200, 4. 6 seconds in the 40-yard dash, Dollarway’s Jesse Grandy, 5-11, 154, 4. 44, and Lafayette County’s Rickey Hughey, 6-5, 221, 4. 75, have been offered. At this time, the only known new scholarship offers to come out of Arkansas ’ Seniors Camp last weekend went to Hughey and Texarkana (Texas ) Texas High’s Cobi Hamilton, 6-4, 190, 4. 54.
Both are receivers, though Hughey and Grandy are considered more athletes than certain receivers. Barlow and Hamilton are certain wide receivers in college. Grandy likely will be a receiver, though he could play cornerback after a year in the weight room, while Hughey might be headed to the defensive line much like Jamaal Anderson did upon signing with the Razorbacks.
Hamilton also added a scholarship offer from Kansas to his list this week, making 10 offers for him. Barlow will visit LSU on Tuesday and then at some point hopes to decide between Arkansas, LSU, Kansas and Missouri. North Carolina wanted Barlow as a tight end, so he dropped it from his list. Grandy also has offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tulsa and Louisiana Tech.

WholeHogSports.com - RECRUITING : Texas High’s Hamilton still shining, still big on Razorbacks
Quote:
“Arkansas is still my No. 1,” Hamilton said. “I’m going to check out Missouri later in the season. Arkansas is still No. 1 and my favorite right now.” Hamilton is very familiar with Arkansas, having made the trip to Fayetteville each opportunity he has gotten this season. Texas High has had two open dates, and Hamilton headed to Fayetteville both times.
“I went to one [game ] last year and two this year,” Hamilton said. “I also went to the [Seniors Camp in July ].
“ The fan support there is unbelievable. I like the fans and everybody wanted to shake my hand. They all want me to come to Arkansas. I like when they call the Hogs, too.” One additional plus for Arkansas is the presence of former Texas High and Michigan quarterback Ryan Mallett. Mallett was a senior when Hamilton was a sophomore for the Tigers.
“Ryan is a good quarterback,” Hamilton said. “I think he’s the best quarterback in the country. He knows how to throw everything around to good receivers, and that’s why Arkansas is No. 1 right now.”

WholeHogSports.com - THE RECRUITING GUY : Oklahoma State offers Hamilton; Arkansas favored
Quote:
Oklahoma State recently joined 10 schools, including Arkansas, in offering a scholarship to Texarkana, Texas, receiver Cobi Hamilton.
In addition to the Cowboys and Hogs, Hamilton has offers from Missouri, Kansas, Kansas State, TCU, Houston and others.
"Arkansas is still my No. 1," said Hamilton, who reports a 36-inch vertical jump.
Hamilton, 6-3, 200 pounds, 4. 52 seconds in the 40-yard dash, plans to take an unofficial visit to Oklahoma State when the Cowboys play Oklahoma on Nov. 29, then take his official visit there in December.
Hamilton has scheduled an official visit to Kansas on Dec. 5 and is in the process of setting up visits to Missouri and Arkansas. He said he talked to Razorbacks assistant coach Bobby Allen a little over a week ago.
"He told me I'm the guy they want and they're going to hold on for me," said Hamilton, who finished fourth in the 200 meters at the AAU National Junior Olympics this summer with a time of 21. 41 seconds. "He told me to take my time and take a look at other schools. He wants me to come to Arkansas last."
Hamilton needs 22 receptions and 323 yards to become the Tigers' all-time leading receiver. He has 44 catches for 819 yards and 12 touchdowns for the year.
Hamilton has been to Arkansas' games against Alabama and Florida on unofficial visits. He noted several reasons for naming the Hogs his favorite. "My parents went there and the fact they want me to go there," he said. "The fan support in Texarkana and Fayetteville are unbelievable." Hamilton also likes that the Razorbacks' roster includes former Texarkana running back Dennis Johnson and former Texarkana, Texas, quarterback Ryan Mallett. "I wouldn't mind catching balls from Mallett again," Hamilton said. "It would be like high school again."
