Cecil Whiteside (Newport Beach, Calif./ Newport Harbor) told us he received a verbal offer from Notre Dame. The Irish are waiting for his SAT score to come in before putting the offering in writing. The linebacker said he plans to take the SAT in the summer.
OLB Cecil Whiteside has committed to sign as part of California's Class of 2010 over scholarship offers from Arizona and Washington, ESPN's Greg Biggins reports.
He said, "When I think about Cal, it's just a school I'm very comfortable with and I know I'll be happy there the next four or five years. I went to their Junior Day and really liked it there and it's just a great fit for me."
However, it does not appear that Whiteside's recruitment is finalized, "I still might take my visits in the fall. Cal has really high academic requirements so I might do visits just as a backup. Arizona, Colorado, Arizona State and USC are a few other schools I'm looking at but Cal is definitely my first choice and where I want to be."
