SportingNews.com - The Recruitnik
Quote:
“I sat there and stewed for a couple of days, not knowing what would happen,” Kohler told Sporting News Today. “Then I got an email from my recruiting coach at Arizona saying to call him. He told me they had just sent an offer in the mail and I would be getting it in a couple of days. I couldn’t get the smile off my face.”
The 6-foot-4, 265-pound offensive tackle was on the board. Soon afterwards, UCLA extended a scholarship offer, too. Kohler said when he first talked to UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel, he was blown away by the coach’s enthusiasm for the game and the Bruins’ program.
Recently, Scout.com released its ranking of some of the top junior players in the nation, and Kohler was rated a four-star recruit. Rivals.com also has him listed as one of the top 250 prospects in the country.
“I’d say my strengths are my size, and that I can get out in the open field and make a block,” Kohler told SN Today. “I think my consistency of play is a strength, too. Of course, you can always get better every day, and I think I can get better. I think just the fact that I can make those key blocks that spring the touchdowns, that’s something I think I can do well.”
Kohler said he will begin taking unofficial visits to some of his top schools during the spring and summer. He does want to take in the game-day atmosphere at his top schools, and he plans to take his official visits before announcing a decision.
