Three additional offers for Henry County receiver | College recruiting | ajc.com
Quote:
Marshall, Michigan and N.C. State are the most recent programs to jump on the Jamal Patterson recruiting bandwagon.
Scholarship offers from these three programs this month has pushed the 6-foot-2, 188-pound Henry County receiver’s offer count past 40.
Patterson said he plans to give the Michigan offer strong consideration.
“Distance from home isn’t a factor,” Patterson said. “It such an honor to receive an offer from Michigan.
“Getting an offer from any school is an honor, but one from a school with that much prestige is big time.”
After winning a state championship in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday, Patterson turned his focus to spring football two days later.
College scouts have turned out in large number to get a glimpse of the talented junior.
“Coaches from Tennessee, Oregon and Richmond were there on Monday,” Patterson said. “And coaches from Southern Cal, Troy and Miami attended practice on Tuesday.”
Georgia receivers coach John Eason is expected to attended practice at Henry County on Thursday. As of late Tuesday, Georgia has not yet offered Patterson.
Georgia defensive coordinator Willie Martinez and Alabama assistant coach Kirby Smart were among the spectators in attendance at Saturday’s track and field championship in Jefferson.
Patterson said his body was up for the challenge of a quick transition from track to football.
“It’s different on your body running on rubber and asphalt then getting on grass,” he said. “But I feel like I’m in great shape.”

Scout: Smashing the Stereotype (FREE)

In a world that is nearing hypersensitivity over character and academics, many prognosticators fear that the overall level of talent will take a hit as bad eggs are weeded out. It doesn't seem fair to speculate as such, but to borrow from the words of a great friend..."It is what it is." But, as we all know, stereotypes are merely manifestations of those with limited scope and limited minds.

By S Shipp. Patterson says that his visit to Kentucky was great, and that everything was top notch. While he names no leader, the schools that have caught his eye include Auburn, Clemson, Alabama, LSU, Stanford, Florida, Michigan and Notre Dame. Academics will be an important factor in making his choice.

Jamal Patterson has been busy visiting schools and he's already been to Stanford, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Clemson. "I'm also planning on visiting Notre Dame and West Virginia soon," Patterson said. "Notre Dame is a great place. The tradition and prestige is the best. It's like an honor to go there. Just getting an offer from them means a lot." Patterson denies any favorites.

From the South Carolina site. While Patterson doesn't name any favorites, he does say that Florida, LSU, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Stanford and UCF are recruiting him the hardest. He will look at academics first and then how he gets along with the coaches and how fast he will see the field.

ESPN - College Football Recruiting On the Trail 2009
Quote:
Under Armour All-American wide receiver Jamal Patterson will take two of his five official visits to check out the Cardinal and the Knights, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Florida, Tennessee, Clemson, Auburn and Oregon will vie for the remaining three trips.
He commented on non-BCS Central Florida, "I know there will be some people surprised to hear that because it's a Conference USA school, but it's very under-rated."
"Central Florida has one of the best campuses I've ever been to, and they play big-time football there. They were also the very first school to offer me."

From the Clemson site. Patterson says that the rumors of him commiting to Stanford are not true, and that while he is high on them he wouldn't even go as far as to call them his leader. He plans to take visits and make his choice when he is comfortable.

Patterson Zeroing In On Eight
By Phil Kornblut
WR Jamal Patterson (6-3 202) of McDonough, GA said Tuesday night eight schools have emerged from his pack of over 40 offers as the ones he's most interested in at this point. Those seven are Clemson, USC, Stanford, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Central Florida and Tennessee. Patterson said he's certain of two official visits right now...Stanford and Central Florida. He also has decided to take in Clemson's game against Georgia Tech, and he said he will get to a game at USC. Patterson said Stanford, Central Florida and Florida seemed to be recruiting him the hardest, but he did talk a couple of weeks ago with his Clemson and USC recruiters. He said he does not have a favorite.

WR Jamal Patterson headed to Pac-10
ESPNU 150 receiver Jamal Patterson, rated No.16 receiver in the Class of 2009, has committed to coach Jim Harbaugh and Stanford over Central Florida and Florida.
Over 50 programs have offered the Under Armour All-American, including Clemson, South Carolina, Auburn, Alabama, and Tennessee, among many others.
Patterson told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "My senior season is about to start, and I just wanted to get that [college choice] out of the way. Stanford had been my favorite since I visited there in June. I kept visiting other schools to check out all my options, but Stanford was No. 1 all along."
"All the other programs are good, too, but it just came down to which school I felt like was the best fit for me. Stanford is where I want to be."
The 6-foot-2 prospect had 43 receptions for 933 yards and 11 touchdowns during his junior year.
