Nixon narrowed the list of suitors to nine in May and expects to trim that to about five in the next two weeks. He says he has no favorite on the current list that includes Clemson, Florida, LSU, Miami, N.C. State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, South Carolina and West Virginia. Nixon said he’ll take official visits to LSU soon and Miami in October. Last weekend, he took his first official trip to Florida to watch the Gators play Miami.

Until he can make all five official visits, Nixon won’t come to any conclusions.

“It’s not easy, because you don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings because they’ve shown this interest in me,’’ Nixon said. “I’m just going to take my time, take these visits, and I’ll make a decision when I feel it’s right and where I feel most comfortable.’’
