U-M offers scholarships to three in-state high school juniors | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

Quote:
The third in-state junior prospect with an early Michigan offer is Inkster quarterback Devin Gardner. The 6-4, 195-pound Gardner has been recognized as one of the top emerging quarterbacks in the country after his work at the NIKE camps and Elite 11 camps this spring and summer.

Michigan notified Inkster head coach Greg Carter about its plans to offer Gardner on Sept. 1 a couple weeks ago, and the talented signal caller was overwhelmed by the news.

"I was really excited,” Gardner said. “Michigan is big-time, whether it be for football or even if you just say you went to Michigan, everyone gets excited."

Michigan State, Cincinnati and several MAC programs also have told Gardner to expect an offer to come from their schools this week.
