August 09, 2008 Oneill Has Offer From Clemson

By Eric Guimaraes
LB Conor Oneill (6-1 195) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL has received an offer from Clemson and says they are in his top three. Auburn and Wisconsin are his other two favorites and both have offered. His others are from Rutgers, Purdue, Miami (OH), and Syracuse. Oneill wants to decide before December so that he can concentrate on baseball. Clemson is one of his favorites because of their success in both baseball and football. "The plan is to play both sports (in college)," he says, "My baseball coach says that Coach (Jack) Leggett has contacted him about me." FSU has began to show interest and if they offer, they immediately become a favorite. "They have a great tradition in both sports as well. If they offer, I have to consider them as well." The South Florida linebacker had 16 tackles for loss, 6 sacks ans 3 forced fumbles last season. He also had 3 touchdowns, one as a kick returner. He runs a 4.5 40 and feels his speed allows him to cover the field and be near the ball. He has already scheduled is official visit to Auburn for the LSU game. He is waiting for his recruiter, David Blackwell, to tell him which weekend is best for his official to Clemson. He will also take a trip to Wisconsin. Oneill plays in the outfield for his high school baseball team.
