RANTOUL, Ill. - Ron Zook's to-do list is shorter than the ones he had heading into his first three training camps as Illinois' football coach. But three weeks of work under the central Illinois sun must yield some answers before the nationally televised opener Aug. 30 against Missouri in St. Louis.
The Illini start no-pads workouts Monday, put on the equipment Thursday and start hitting Friday. As they do, Zook and his staff will be seeking answers at several positions.
Much has been made of the search for a successor to running back Rashard Mendenhall, first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers. But issues loom at wide receiver, safety and kicker.
Foremost among them, Zook said, is the receiver corps.
