Penn State's 2009 recruiting class is already taking shape.
The Nittany Lions picked up their first verbal commitment for next year's class when Bunn, N.C. center Ty Howle pledged to Penn State while on campus for a visit Monday.
"(Monday) morning, me and my dad and my mom were talking about it, because it's a family decision, and we were just talking about everything (and) I decided that I was going to commit to Penn State," Howle told BlueWhite Illustrated. "We got there (Monday) and I actually wore a Penn State shirt and kept my jacket zipped up during all of the academic meetings and stuff. So around 2 p.m. I went and talked to (Penn State defensive line) coach (Larry) Johnson and the strength coach, because I wanted to tell coach 'J' before I told anyone else because he was my recruiter."
