He supposedly is a borderline academic risk. We're not talking a terminal case like many refer to Maymon as, but he's teetering on the edge of not being able to qualify to my knowledge. He still has 1.5 years to regain his balance and acheive a stronger academic standing. However, as you probably know, the academic standards of Ryan and the basketball program are more stringent than Bielema with the football program.
I've read that he wants to play with his friends Taylor and Berggren, but I'm always leery of package deals because of their past efficacy. The more valid indication of interest was his comment like you said where he'd like to stay close to home. That and the fact that we're a superior program than Tubby's troop at this point.
I'm extremely intrigued by Williams and his explosive athleticism. He would be a great asset because we are in dire need of athletic wing players to cover opponent swingmen. I fear we're getting a little overly infatuated with Minnesota though and neglecting in state talent. Minnesota has little or nothing on Wisconsin as a basketballing state. '09 and '10 are excellent years for prospects here and we should take some advantage. Zero in '08 and we only seem to be likely to offer 1 in '09 (Wilson) who we're probably an underdog for his services.
