Booker T's McDonald makes choice - 02/05/2008 - MiamiHerald.com
Quote:
Booker T. Washington's Sancho McDonald was the starting quarterback of the eventual Class 4A state champion Tornadoes in September, and he also had offers from major college programs such as South Florida and Rutgers.
But it all came crashing down when McDonald tore his Achilles' tendon in the second game of the season, which abruptly ended his high school career.
McDonald could only watch from the sideline as the Tornadoes won their first state title, and as USF and Rutgers withdrew their offers.
After finding a college program that would give him a chance five months later, McDonald is now on a quest for redemption.
''It was a really hard time for me,'' McDonald said. ``Schools stopped coming around for me. I just kept faith that something good was going to happen if I kept working hard to come back.''
Two weeks ago, McDonald was visited by coaches from Middle Tennessee State.
After an official visit a week ago, McDonald orally committed to the Blue Raiders, who along with Minnesota and Rhode Island were the schools that offered him scholarships after the injury.
