Kevin Whaley’s next gains will come as a Gopher.
Whaley -- Salem High School's star running back, the career rushing and scoring leader in South Hampton Roads -- has committed to play college football at Minnesota.
Whaley had dozens of scholarship offers and in recent weeks had narrowed his list of favorites to Connecticut, Michigan State and West Virginia.
