Jewel Hampton followed former star Darren Evans as the featured running back for the Warren Central High School football team this season.
Now, Hampton is following Evans to major college football.
The 5-10, 205-pound Hampton, who rushed for 2,095 yards and 27 touchdowns in his only season as the Warriors' primary back, announced Sunday he made an oral commitment to the University of Iowa. Hampton told Hawkeyes coach Kirk Ferentz of his decision during his official visit over the weekend.
"I like everything about Iowa," Hampton said of choosing the Big Ten program. "I like the football, I like the weight room and I like the players. It's a place that felt like home."
