Boston College was all set to be the first to offer Neal until Luke talked to Arizona State coach Dennis Erickson earlier today.

"Davonte has been going to camps at ASU for the last few years," Luke said. "We know Coach Erickson pretty well and I talked to him today and told him that Boston College was already verbally offering.

"When he heard that, he said that they always wanted to be the first school to offer Davonte and made a point to tell me that we had an offer on the table from them. Obviously it's just a verbal offer right now but it's still pretty exciting to have two major programs offer him when he's just a freshman in high school."

You can bet those two schools will soon be joined by a handful of others. The way recruiting works now, colleges never want to be left behind in offering a player, no matter how early it is. With Neal's overall explosiveness and athleticism on the field, it's safe to assume he'll be one of the most heavily recruited players in the nation by the time his senior year rolls around.
