WholeHogSports.com - THE RECRUITING GUY : Cox's booming punts drawing attention
Quote:
Houston linebacker Stephen Maeweather orally committed to Oklahoma State in early March but now says Arkansas, UCLA and Texas Tech are his top three schools.
"Sometimes they don't call me and show interest," Maeweather said of the Cowboys. "Ever since I committed they stopped calling me. I'm still verbally committed, but I tell all the college coaches that I'm still open."
Maeweather, 6-3, 213, 4.60 seconds in the 40-yard dash, plays for Class 4A Sharpstown High School, and has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Missouri, Houston, Baylor, Purdue and UCLA.
"I'm going to try and make as many visits as I can this summer," said Maeweather, who believes Alabama and Minnesota are close to offering. "I want to go to Arkansas, UCLA, and I want to go to Cal and try to go to Hawaii."
Newly hired Sharpstown Coach Devin Heasley said Maeweather combines athletic skill with excellent conduct.
"He's one of those kids that does what he's told and keeps his mouth closed," Heasley said. "It's refreshing." Defensive end coach Kirk Botkin is the lead recruiter of Maeweather.
