Top Juniors Impressive for Linganore - Josh Barr's Recruiting Insider

Offensive tackle Rob Havenstein and fullback Zach Zwinak already hold scholarship offers from Maryland and Coach Rick Conner thinks that wide receiver Ryan Dixon also is a potential scholarship players, among others.

Perhaps the most impressive of the bunch on Friday was Zwinak, who is listed at 6-2 and 238 pounds. He had the speed to outrun smaller defenders and the brawn to push other would-be tacklers aside. You don't see too many fullbacks with major-college offers as juniors.

Zach Zwinak (Frederick, Md./Linganore) worked out with the running backs Saturday. He showed his power and a tenacious attitude. However, look for Zwinak to play linebacker at the next level. He lacks the speed and elusiveness many recruiters look for in running back prospects, but he has what it takes to be a good one on the other side of the ball in college.

Zach says it took a couple of weeks to pick the two schools he did, Virginia Tech and PSU, and that it will be a hard decision between the two....likes both colleges, says both have great coaches, and he loves being around the people at both schools. Claims neither as a favorite and says a decision is probably coming in the next few weeks.

But perhaps more importantly for Zwinak, he no longer has to worry about what school he'll be playing for in 2010. After Friday night's game, he made a call to Penn State to verbally commit.

"It's a great school, great people, great football," Zwinak said. "It's a relief. I can just focus on my team and the season."
