The Norwalk native might have played in relative obscurity at tiny King-Low Heywood Thomas of Stamford, guiding an option offense that was predicated on the running ability of Silas Redd and Kevin Pierre-Louis, two more Norwalk residents who have already been offered scholarships to Boston College as incoming juniors.

From the Rutgers site. Redd took a recent trip to Virginia and came away impressed with the academics, campus and how much he was wanted there. Rutgers has offered, while Notre Dame and Texas have picked up contact. He will visit his childhood favorite Penn State at the end of the month and is looking forward to his trip.

From the Florida site...talks about his interest in the Gators and some of the players they've recruited from the Northeast...despite the fact he called PSU his dream school he will give every school a fair shot...says he will take his time after almost rushing into a decision.

Entering this weekend, there was plenty of speculation Stamford (Conn.) King running back Silas Redd might commit to the Nittany Lions at the Blue-White Spring Game.
That did not happen.

Scout.com: ScoutTV: Redd Tips Lattimore's Hand?
1/5/10
By Bob Lichtenfels. $ video interview with Silas.
Quote:
SAN ANTONIO, Texas-- Penn State commit Silas Redd is proving that he is one of the best running backs in the nation this week. While interviewing Redd, the Nation's No. 1 running back Marcus Lattimore intervened and may have tipped his hand.
The rumors this week have Marcus Lattimore really feeling the Penn State Nittany Lions and while talking with Stamford (Conn.) running back Silas Redd, Lattimore did nothing to quell those rumors.
Redd is lighting it up in San Antonio and we suspected that Redd may scare off Lattimore. As it turns out it is something the two standouts have already discussed at length.
In this video you will hear our interview with Redd and at about the 3:00 minute mark you will see Lattimore enter the picture and possibly tip his hand. Lattimore still has a visit to Oregon remaining, but the Nittany Lions appear to be right in the mix.

Fortt, Redd To Blog From San Antonio - Overtime: High school athletics in Connecticut - Connecticut News
Quote:
January 3, 2010 at 5:18 pm by Dave Ruden
Recent graduates Khairi Fortt of Stamford High School and Silas Redd of King left today for San Antonio, to begin practice for Saturday’s prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl, which will be broadcast on NBC at 1 p.m.
With the coordination of the public relations people down there, both Fortt and Redd are going to be blogging, sending brief postcards home, during the week. There will also be pictures of both players.
I will get you more details as we set things up.
In the meantime, Ruden: Football stars ready for next step - StamfordAdvocate
