Male, Tilghman, Bardstown get titles
By Jason Frakes ? jfrakes@courier-journal.com ? June 1, 2008
His shot at a fourth state championship seemingly slipping away, Male High School junior Justin Green mustered the energy for one final kick.
Having already captured the 100-, 200- and 400-meter titles, Green relinquished the lead for a few seconds but then kicked his 1,600-relay team to victory and capped another banner day for the Bulldogs' track and field team.
|
Quote:
Green won the 100 in 10.82 seconds, the 200 in 21.82 and the 400 in 48.95 and still had something left for the 1,600 relay -- the final event of the day.
After Tony Booker, Lewis Dodson and Kieran Story teamed to give Male the lead, Green briefly gave it away to Manual and Henry Clay with about 200 meters to go.
"I was drained, but I always try to save a little for the end," Green said. "It's all strategy."
Green regained the lead after the final turn and gave the Bulldogs a finishing time of 3:20.95. Henry Clay (3:21.47) was second, and Manual (3:21.81) was third.

By A Bone. Green enjoyed his trips to Alabama and Tennesse, and has trips coming up to Ohio State and Illinois. He has no favorites, and says he won't have a list ready until August or September.

Male speedster Green is a big-time football prospect | courier-journal | The Courier-Journal
Quote:
Male High School has recently produced a number of major NCAA Division I football players, including three Mr. Football winners.
The Bulldogs have another hot college prospect this season.
Defensive back/running back Justin Green is considered one of the top prospects in the country, and he has big-time programs hot on his trail.
The 5-foot-11, 178-pound Green, who recently won four titles in the Class 3-A State Track and Field Championships, is the No. 67 prospect overall and No. 6 cornerback in the country, according to Rivals.com.
"I'm just trying to take it all in," Green said last week from a camp at Ohio State. "I am just taking everything in, looking at schools and trying to make a top list of schools to visit."
Green's brother, Marcus, played for Ohio State, and the younger Green said the Buckeyes have offered him a scholarship.
Green also has offers from the University of Louisville, the University of Kentucky, Indiana University, Alabama, Miami, Tennessee, Illinois, Michigan State, Northwestern, Arkansas and Western Kentucky. He's made unofficial visits to most of those schools.
"It's been expensive, but I wanted to try and see as many schools as possible and see what they have to offer," Green said. "I really want a place where I feel comfortable at. I want almost like a home away from home."
But Green said that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to leave home. U of L has had luck signing Male players.
"Louisville has a chance," Green said. "I have been around Louisville a lot, but I want to see what else is out there."
Green, who runs a 4.5-second 40-yard dash, said he likely won't make a decision until taking his official visits this fall.

By M Hartman at the Ohio State site. Green says that he still plans to take his time with his choice. Coach Tressel has informed him that if his spot is in danger of being taken, he will let him know. Green will visit Illinois next week.

Male star Green will play football at Ohio St. | courier-journal | The Courier-Journal
Quote:
Male High School standout football player Justin Green committed to Ohio State University last night.
Green, who said Friday that he wanted to go through the recruiting process before picking a college, changed his mind after attending a Buckeyes camp last week.
The 5-foot-10, 178-pound running back/defensive back committed over the phone to OSU coach Jim Tressel.
"When I sat down and talked to the coaches, that was the deciding factor," said Green, who will be a senior. "I wanted to sit down and get to know them, hear what they had in mind for me. I just wanted to talk to them, and that did it for me."
Green, who won four Class 3-A track titles this month, will follow in his brother's footsteps to Ohio State. Marcus Green played there and lives in Columbus for most of the year.
"I have been to all the games, and I have seen the campus a whole bunch," Justin Green said. "Marcus being there is a big deal for me. Every time I have been there, it's been a great experience for me."
Green, ranked the No. 67 senior prospect in the country by Rivals.com, also considered Alabama, Miami, Louisville and Kentucky.

ATH Justin Green (5-10 180) of Louisville, KY has already committed to Ohio State but says that Clemson has shown a lot of interest. He hopes to get an offer from them. "Right now, I'm committed to Ohio State. I would love for Clemson to offer me though. I need to make sure I'm going to the right school. That's what my parents would want me to do." Green has offers from several programs including Alabama, Wake Forest, NC State, Illinois, Kentucky, and Louisville. He is playing wide receiver, runningback, and defensiveback this season and will likely return punts as well. He says he's a busy man on the football field. His father is the DB Coach at his high school and has been coaching him since he began playing football as a youngster. "When I was little, they (my parents) made me play when I didn't want to and I'm glad they did. I fell in love with the game and my dad has always been there with me. I think that's helped me gain a strong understanding of the game." His brother Marcus played at OSU and he says he grew up a State fan. "I've always loved watching them play. My brother went there and so they've always been my team." Green says he is pretty strong in his commitment but would like to see what other schools can offer him. "I think Clemson is a good school and I would like to learn more about them. I hope they offer me." Justin ran a 4.41 40 last month and also runs track for his high school.

I wouldn't panic yet, Kornblut is a bit of a homer.

From the Clemson site. Green may take a visit to Clemson, but that's it. He always wanted to be a Buckeye and is all Ohio State right now, and says that it would take a whole lot to change that.
