Central linebacker Ridge Wilson told the C-J's Jason Frakes that the University of Kentucky offered Wilson and Central defensive line teammate Mister Cobble each a scholarship on Friday.
The 6-foot, 270-pound Cobble was a first-team All-State selection on The Courier-Journal's All-State team. The 6-4, 215-pound Wilson was an honorable mention selection on the All-State team as a linebacker.
Wilson said he has not made a commitment and is also being recruited by Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisville and Indiana among others.

Central High School had a bunch of solid underclassmen that helped the Yellowjackets claim the Class AAA state title last football season.
Now, several of those players are among the state's top prospects.
Linebacker Ridge Wilson is one of the top prospects from the Yellowjackets program, a top-notch linebacker from the Class of 2009.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Wilson is the nephew of former University of Louisville basketball player Rick Wilson and already has a bunch of colleges calling.
Ridge Wilson said his only offer at this point is Kentucky, but he's hearing from Louisville, Alabama, Western Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Purdue, Princeton and Yale.
Wilson has a 3.7 grade-point average and said he's in no hurry to make a decision.
"I'm going to wait until the signing day," Wilson said. "I am going to weigh all of my options and see all of choices. I'm going to a few camps this summer."
Wilson will make an unofficial visit this weekend to Tennessee where he'll take in the Volunteers game against Kentucky.
He said Louisville has "really been coming on." He said his family has always been U of L fans, but noted that he "never had a favorite team."
But Wilson did admit his first offer came from a school he really likes:
"I went to Kentucky and fell in love," he said. "But I still want to wait to make sure and to see what all of my options are."

U of L has also made offers to a pair of the top football prospects from the state of Kentucky - seniors-to-be Ridge Wilson (photo) and Shenard Holton. Wilson, a 6-foot-4, 210-pound linebacker from Louisville Central, told me he picked up an offer from U of L and is expecting one soon from Cincinnati. He had previously been offered by Kentucky, Arkansas and Indiana. Holton, a 6-foot, 190-pound running back/strong safety at Warren East, also has offers from Miami of Ohio, Central Michigan, Ball State and Eastern Kentucky. Tennessee, Purdue, Kentucky and Auburn have also been showing interest.

One of the major-college football prospects at Central High School has made his decision on a college. Mister Cobble made his commitment to Kentucky official on Monday.
There has been plenty of speculation on his teammate - linebacker Ridge Wilson. But the 6-foot-4, 210-pound Wilson said he's still has "no favorite right now."
Wilson, who helped Central to its first state title in school history last fall, holds offers from Louisville, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Indiana and Arkansas.
"I am still just taking my time and will wait to see what happens when the season starts," Wilson said. "I just want to see everything out there."
Wilson talked specifically about the two local schools. He said with Louisville there was "nothing better than home. I can stay here and family come see me play."
"At UK, I go up there and I feel welcomed. I feel like it's where I need to be and I have a good connection with coach (Rich) Brooks and (Joker) Phillips. But I want to take my time."

From the UK site. Wilson has narrowed his list to Kentucky, Arkansas, Tennesse and Auburn. Academics, playing time, and the overall fot with the program will be important factors in his choice.

WholeHogSports.com - THE RECRUITING GUY : Louisville linebacker looking forward to playing in SEC
Quote:
Louisville Central outside linebacker Ridge Wilson, 6-4, 215 pounds, 4. 6 seconds in the 40-yard dash, has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Louisville, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Indiana and Purdue. He said Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Auburn and some Ivy League schools are showing interest. Johnson and Central Coach Ty Scroggins were teammates at Louisville during the 1990 football season when the Cardinals went 10-1-1 and beat Alabama 34-7 in the 1991 Fiesta Bowl. Johnson was a senior while Scroggins was a freshman.
“Coach Johnson and I are real cool,” said Wilson, who recorded over 80 tackles for Central, which won the Class 3 A state championship last year. “We have a nice bond because he played football at Louisville with my coach, Ty Scroggins. They played linebacker together at Louisville. I’ve talked to him a few times on the phone and I email him a lot and stay in contact a lot. He’s a good man.” Wilson said he plans to make official visits during the season to Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma and possibly Kansas before making a decision. He said he doesn’t need to take a visit to Kentucky since he’s already familiar with the Wildcats.
“I want to commit as soon as possible, so I don’t have a lot of stress about recruiting during the season.” Wilson said.

Central High School linebacker Ridge Wilson went to the Louisville vs. Kentucky football game as a guest of the Cardinals, wearing a red-out t-shirt.
He left as a Kentucky commitment.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Wilson hasn't returned a call to The Courier-Journal but he told The Cats Pause that he made a commitment after the 27-2 win by Kentucky over the Cardinals.
He's the 19th commitment for the Wildcats in the Class of 2009 and picked UK over Louisville, Indiana and Arkansas. Tennessee and several others were also looking.
