Besides a scholarship offer from Tech, he has them from Georgia, Illinois and Middle Tennessee State. Played safety before growing into the linebacker position.

From the GT site. Gilliard says that even after Georgia's Junior Day, Georgia and Georgia Tech are neck-and-neck for his services. LSU invited him to Junior Day, but he will not be going because he doesn't see himself that far from home.

Mike Gilliard names three favorites
ESPN 150 Watch List outside linebacker Mike Gilliard told affiliate website TheBigSpur.com, "My top three schools right now are Georgia, Georgia Tech and Florida. There is no leader right now. I am just trying to figure out where I want to go. The No. 1 factor for me right now is early playing time and if I feel comfortable at the school."

USC is working to become a player with LB Michael Gilliard (6-2 200) of Valdosta, GA. Gilliard got an idea of the Gamecocks' interest in him after a recent conversation with defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Ellis Johnson. "He told me I was his number one prospect at linebacker and said I am the type of player that he wants to get in there and get into his system," Gilliard said. Right now Gilliard has Georgia, Georgia Tech and Florida as his top three schools. "There is no leader right now," he said. "I am just trying to figure out where I want to go. The number one factor for me is right now is early playing time and if I feel comfortable at the school." Gilliard also has offers from Auburn, Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, NC State and Tennessee. Last season Gilliard had 112 tackles with 18 tackles for loss and 8 sacks.

From the Georgia site. Committed to Georgia. Mike says Georgia was always where he wanted to go but that depth at LB was a big concern. The coaches eased that concern, and Gilliard pulled the trigger.
