By A. Traieu. Boren says that he is not a lock to Michigan, and that he actually had a much better time at Ohio State. Boren states that although his brother plays at Michigan now, and his father is a Michigan alum, it would be nice to start a new Boren legacy at another school.
-This is a pretty shocking update.

Zach met with the Michigan coaches and received the family legacy pitch but still says he is not ready to make any decisions. Michigan wants him as a fullback.

Film of Boren playing mostly at LB with some RB/FB.
Wasn't expecting a whole lot, but he's another one to add to the top 50 in Ohio list (if he isn't already on there). Pretty impressive video. Seems to have a real knack for causing fumbles or recovering them.

I like grinders don't get me wrong, Zach is my kind of football player...but I see him as limited at the next level. However, it would not shock me to be completely wrong and he ends up as a stud.

By The Bank...very candid interview with Zach...talks about the offer, which he has been told is completely independent of whatever decision his brother makes, about the infamous story of his brother considering a verbal to OSU and about where he projects at the next level.

Lancaster Eagle-Gazette - www.lancastereaglegazette.com - Lancaster, OH
Quote:
Zach Boren will have to think about what he might look like in scarlet and gray before deciding where he will play college football.
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel and the Buckeyes recently extended a scholarship offer to Boren, who will play his senior season at Pickerington Central in the fall.
"It's huge," Zach said. "For any high school kid to get an offer from a (Bowl Championship Series) school ... it's a dream come true to get an offer that big.
Zach said he was informed by Tigers head coach Jay Sharrett that Ohio State had formally offered him a scholarship after Sharrett spoke with Tressel and the Buckeyes' recruiting coordinator.
The junior said he has not made any decisions regarding his football future as of yet, but that he wanted to reach one before Central opens its season in August.
"I'm just kind of sitting back and enjoying the recruiting process, giving each school a fair shot," Zach said. "Whenever I feel comfortable, that's when I'll make the decision."
Mike Boren, Zach's father, was an All-American at the University of Michigan. Zach's older brother Justin played two seasons as a Wolverine before deciding to transfer away from Ann Arbor due to differences with new coach Rich Rodriguez.
Mike said he doesn't think Zach isn't really thinking about playing in Ann Arbor.
"I would say Zach's definitely not thinking Michigan at this point," Mike said.
The elder Boren said Justin hasn't made a decision as to what program he will transfer to for his next season.
"If Justin ends up at OSU or somewhere else and that's where I end up, that would be a huge plus," Zach said. "That would make me feel comfortable.
"But it's kind of like life. You have to go out on your own sometimes, too."
Mike said wherever his two sons end up, he is thrilled that they both have the opportunity to play at the next level.
"I'm proud of them because they work hard," Mike said. "I mean you reap what you sow. Zach wakes up at 5 o'clock every morning and works out."

By BK...likely to make a decision in the next week or so. His father say he does not care that OSU has three other LBs committed [ so I assume that means he is being recruited as a LB].

ESPN - Budmayr proves worth in Columbus - Insider
Quote:
Zach Boren (6-1, 240), Linebacker/Fullback
(Pickerington, Ohio/North)
Boren is what he is -- a tough, blue-collar, unflashy football player with good instincts and the ability to just get it done between the white lines. Those attributes combined with his marginal lateral mobility are why we project he may end up at fullback at OSU. Friday he also showed why linebacker is not out of the question.
Boren passed the eyeball test physically with his compact frame layered with good bulk and was equally impressive in drills we thought might exploit some weaknesses. More of a tackle-to-tackle, downhill run stopper, Boren showed grit and deceptive athleticism, jamming and running with some of the faster backs in one-on-one passing drills and breaking down well in open-field tackling stations. There were no Buckeyes coaches on hand to witness his camp MVP performance at linebacker, but it showed why he might not be limited to strictly fullback in college.
